Curious all,
Been some time since Ive posted on here but we are fishing out of Picton this sunday.
Besides the Weather Network, (which is reporting very poor conditions)....from the experienced Fine Quinte fisherfolk.....
What is your take on the conditions as they seem to be calling for...would you be going out????????????
SE at 35-45 gusting to 60km
pp at 85%
temps at 6'c

Ive fished the plant and lighthouse in 2-3 waves and 40km winds without incident.......But cant remember the wind direction, This is what is important to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember them to be on my back while we were racing in to the harbour to be comming from the S.E

Many thanks in advance!

polliwog,
thank-you for your reply bud!!!!
Agood thing I thinking...winds from the west..I hope.
I was hoping for some info from some local BOQ fisherfolk who may have been out today....
Tommorrow calls for much of the same........and from where I am right now it looks A-OK,,but then Im out of town.
OK, its asking a bit much...but I am a retiree and funds for travel must be select.
Thanks again folks

I havn't evan been outside today, and I doubt to many were on the bay. You might be able to tuck in and fish somewhere but from what ive heard on the boards you have to go east of the ferry if your after the big ones and everything else is scarse. There will be better days I hope as I want to get out before I pickle the boat and Dad and I have become fair weather fisherman.

BrickNBlock, do not be foolish. Stay home and stay alive. Even 20KM winds in the right direction can produce 6 foot waves on BOQ waters. If you do deceide to go, bring a water proof bible and update your will. By the way do you happen to do masonary work under the table?

I agree!! Catching fish is not worth your life or saftey, possibly loosing your boat and gear. I always check the forcast out of Kingston for that area as they are on the main lake. yesturday the marine forcast for LO
was 6 m. If you have been out there in heavy waves you will no fishing will not be fun. We cancelled our sunday outing.
Remember safety first, nothing else matters.

Tight Lines and good luck! 8) 8)

In my experience, if there is any easterly component to the wind, you are basically whacking your weenie. Stay home!

The only exception would be a sudden shift or veer as a cold front approaches - just before the cold front and just after can be phenomenal action, right as the barometer is falling. But once the cold front has arrived, you might as well go home.

"When the wind's from the west, the fish bite the best. When the wind's from the east, the fish bite the least."

PistonPete, have you ever thought of combineing your two favorite sports. Perhaps fish-climbing or verticle-trolling? This to me would be x-treme fishing at its finest.
