The MNR called me and ask that I remove the 1800 number for ice conditions. They received a number of calls and just don't have the resources to be able to accurately respond. I asked why it was advertised as such in the first place? The response was that no one seems to know how the number got out (i picked it up from a local radio ad). It seems it was advertised here and in the Barrie/simcoe area. Anglers have also been calling local MNR district offices to try and get a handle on ice conditions, and again, the district offices don't have the information and are unable to give accurate responses. The advice from the MNR was call the local hut operators.
