Quinte Fishing

I've had some people asking me what we did as far as trolling speeds and what baits we use to catch walleye. When we go out we do troll ,into the wind using deep divers no planer boards or lead line. By trolling into the wind we can slow our baits down to a crawl. Once we find the fish we way point the school on our G.P.S. . After we caught the easy fish by trolling we go back to were we mark them and start casting for them. Jerry used his minnow baits and I used my fly rod. The areas we fished were close to shallow water. As dusk moved in we caught most of the fish up in the shallows. We did notice that a lot of shad were working in this one marked area so we tried to resemble the spieces with our baits. I did get more than Jerry with my fly rod but he was on the trolling motor all the time we were out. I know he did loose a lot because of this. (He told me next time I had to switch) Im sure I'll have a bad foot or something the next time out.
We do work hard and are very quick to adapt to the conditions. I think this is one thing a lot of fisherpeople forget to do. Sometimes we all get to teqhnicle or get into a certain way of fishing and forget that there other means and ways to produce while we are out.

A fly rod?! Holy frig, I'd love to watch that! That would be totally rad.

How about some photos - or better yet, movies - of you guys in action. I have never seen anyone use a flyrod for walleyes in Quinte in the fall.
