Fall Fishing

First of all I would like to thank Dan Elliot for making this great website, without this site I would be catching perch and Sun fish this time of the year. This site made the fisherman out of me. Thanks to all the posts which came really handy for lure selection and techniques.
November 18 & 19 me and my buddy Ahsan went to BOQ for fall fishing, very nervous to use new tips & tricks. First day we landed 5 fish from 5.5 Lbs. to 12.7Lbs, we kept two good eating sizes. Sunday we hooked 11, one double header ranging from 9.2 lbs to 14.7 (PB), released every thing. What a memorable day.
Mann’s 20+ (used 10 colures) were magic but the biggest was caught on Mann’s 25+. Thanks to the fellow at fishing word in Hamilton who suggested me 25+.

Dang! I've caught hundreds of ten-plus-pounders, and still haven't even come close to 14.7. Nice fish! Of course, I have given away more than one 15-pounder, the biggest to a girl! Sheesh.

[OK, in fairness, my dad did catch his own 15-3! But I grabbed it for him!]

It's been a long time since I had a double digit. I think 12 would definately be a PB for me.

Great fish Desi!!!! The Mann's stretch seems to definately be the hot lure. I've got to pick me up some before saturday. I see they make them in 30+ as well.
It's gonna be a cold one for sure (compared to last weekend) but thats what ya get for fall walleye fishing. :lol:

Well worth it.

What was I thinking. I think I was thinking I might get lucky, but you know who got lucky that day!

The night before, I had caught 19 fish by myself, so it seemed the gentlemanly thing to do was to hand her the rod for the first fish the next day.

Neil was incensed: "Bloody 'ell, didn't you even feel the weight of the thing before you handed over the fish of a lifetime?!"

the manns come in the stretch 18, 25, 28, and 30.....and we have caught on all but the 30.....at least not yet. :lol:

Interesting report... thanks for posting. Just curious though, you mentioned you were running a Stretch 25 and 10 colours? If I read that correctly, you bait, depending on boat speed, would be running at a minimum, 60 ft! I'm sure you realize that your fishin in the "kill" zone at that depth (if your running 1.5 mph, your bait will be at 70ft down!!!)!

I was using off shore inline planner boards, 120-150 out and 70 ft to boat. 30 lbs power line (no stretch) with 25 ft 14 lbs seaguar fluorocarbon leader. Morning time I was using bright colours and rest of the day white with read head and blueberry muffin or any purplish colour. Fish you spot in 50 to 60 foot is totally inactive fish and we do not target that fish. We are looking for the fish who would like to eat and looking for food. I would say 20ft to 30 foot is the best. Do not go in too many bats, fish is every where. Good luck!!!!!

Ok, I see Desi, thanks for clearing that up.

Based on this new info, your Stretch 25 will be running somewhere between 30 and 40 ft down, maybe a little more or less, again, based on boat speed.
But, if you were running that Stretch 25 off of lead core and a board, your probably in the 50 ft area, dependant on boat speed.
