We decided to head out by the Bay bridge tonight for old times sake. We tried our normal spots under the bridge but nothing was happening. We started a troll on the west side of the rip rap and this is what we started to mark.

Once into them our rods started bobbing as the lures smacked off them. We were praying they were walleye but oh no. Gar Pike.....stacked up huge. I snagged one in the lower fin and it took awhile to get it in. It's not the first time we've been through this. Very disappointing. :(

mystery solved !!! I love fishing for gar on a fly rod in the summer when they are stacked in 6" to 1' of water. always wondered where they went in the winter, now I know. all schooled up and trying to keep warm I guess.

I've watched a gar this year chase down a sunfish and kill it, while standing only 2 feet away from the action, should of, would of could of, had the video camera running, but never think of those things till after , will never forget that sight though. they are an amazing fish.
