Boy am I glad I don`t winterize the boat and lucky enough to have an insulated garage to keep it in. Looked at the weather and with the lighter winds and no hockey for the kids I decided to go fishing.
Well I phoned Skevy`s and knew after I had talked to Ron I was coming down. Picked up 3 dozen minnows and off we went. By 11:30am I dropped my buddy off to take the truck back to skevy`s and get another 3 dozen!!! Left the the Bay at 3:00 and between the 2 of us we landed 42 walleye!!!! I love the bay!!!! We had lost quite a few as well because I always bring them up a little slower when we fish deeper water. Some times the bite was light and other times they hit it hard.
Had such a good time... so back up I go on the 29th and boy was it cold!!! And windy from the east. Started out a little slower as I struggled to control the boat and and keep our lines vertical. As soon as I anchored and used the drift sock to slow us down we got busy. Another great day as we got 40 more walleye and a pike around 6 lbs. Again most fish were just good eaters and most are back swimming(did keep a few for the table). We had one fish break us off. It did not want to come up at all...just big head shakes.
Well I`m usually one of the guys waiting for ice and on Scugog 3 times a week and right now I`m hoping for mild temps and no ice as I would love to get the boat out again!! As I write this it is a total white out outside and wishing I was back on the bay.

Ron thanks for the chit chat at the store and we caught all the fish the second day the same place as the first day. I`ll be sure to phone you again and please let me know if the ramps in around Belleville are iced in.

I did take a photo of the boat as it was totally covered in ice when I took it out.
Happy New Year to all and a safe one.
Teppy

Well I did great with minnows the first day and the second day most fish were caught on a jigging spoon bare.(no minnow)
In my opinion location is very important and its really not that hard to find them. I could see them on my graph right along bottom.

Sounds like you guys had a great time and some good action.

I was curious what general area were your fishing? Was it near the bridge?

We hit picton last week and with less than desired results and then manged a few at Trenton as a follow up day before our return trip home. We are thinking of coming up about mid week before putting the boat away.

So whatever info you would lke to share would be appreciated. We are travelling from Orillia and are a little out of the loop on the bay

Thanks in advance for any info.

Brian

Tomorrow looks like a good day to hit the water. 8 degrees is pretty balmy for this time of year. As long as the hangover isn't too bad we may hit the water in the aft. :D
I'd like to get a few eaters as well.
Were you fishing the bay bridge area or around the rush bar area?
