Give the guy a break? Are you kidding me? Unless he had 7 guys fishing w/ him (2/angler), then I wouldn't complain. But it is the mentality of guys keeping everything they catch that is ruining the fisheries. What's the limit on Erie?

6 a day on Erie. You have to remember we had an UNBELIEVABLE hatch in 2003 literally dumping millions of 'eyes in the "eater" class into the system. 90% of our catches offshore this year were composed of that 2003 year class as was most of the rest of the lake.

Shawn_303, I guess you'd have won that bet. Who's toe are you taking??
Just gonna chime in with my 2 cents here. Yeah, Fishindude and party took a lot of fish. But I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt that they did not break any laws. And I'm sure all those fish will be eaten, I bet a lot of them have already fried up. As for the two bigger fish that were kept. They're really not that big (nice fish for sure though). To me, his piles of fish consist of a load of 2-4 pounders and a couple 6 or 7's. Most walleye fisheries are loaded with a few strong year classes right now. 2003 is recognized as an exceptionally strong year class everywhere(2-4 pounders in Quinte and Erie). Commercial quotas are likely to be increased as a result. As anglers we are allowed to keep fish. But what we harvest as anglers doesn't even come close to what the commercial boats are taking.

Enjoy the fish fry Fishindude, and thanks for sharing your results.

i do practice catch and realease. i knew someone would be whining about this but anyway. i usually dont keep the bigger ones(which are not your prime spawning fish anyway)i prefer 2-4 lbrs. i kept the bigger ones for a neighbor family that will not let a bit of those fish go to waste and they really enjoy them. i also like to see the smile on their face when i give them the fish. the other night i went out and caught over 20 fish and didnt keep one. just haveing a great time getting used to the vex. i take a few of my friends kids out fishing with me when i can and you should see the reaction on their face when they pull one of these through the ice, its great. oh the limit in mich waters of lake erie is 5
