Fished 19.5 fow on monday in brest bay on lake erie. we limited out . went today and really had to work hard for them. they would just come in and look at the lure. you could pull them a little off the bottom but they wouldnt take it.

Hi Fishindude,

What tactics do you like to use when you come up against that situation? Slow dropping flutter spoons? Jig heads? I'm just curious.

Thanks.

i will give it a couple windmill jigs (about 4-5 ft jigs then let it settle back to them just on top of the fish.) sometimes just tiny jigging will trigger them but usually the windmill will get em fidgity and make them a little more aggressive. the pic isnt good but these are the fish from yesterday.

Still don't understand guys that keep everything they catch ... there may be lots of walleyes in Lake Erie, but throwing everything you catch on the ice seems a bit greedy.

It was only a matter of time before comments like this were made.

I hate to say it but it's gotten to the point that if anyone shows a picture of fish they've caught and are proud to show and share the information on this board, they get hammered with conservation comments. :?

Good thing you didn't have a smoke in your yap....someone may have commented on health issues too.

....sorry eveyone but we're all aware of conservation issues and it's gettting to be a bore.

I like to see the fish people catch no matter if they keep them or not as long as it's legal. That's what makes me dream and think about fishing. :)

Cheers

I agree, every forum i am a member of has this problem.

Congrats on the Fish btw, i wish i was having the same luck as you guys.

Ill also add that since this has to be the worst year i have ever had for hardwater fishing, if i did catch my limit i would keep my limit cus i would like a decant feed of fish.

I praise you guys for being sucessful.

I've seen guys on the BOQ who fish every day and keep everything they catch , that may be a bit greedy but when you go once in a while and get your limit , more power to you , have a good snack of fish !

I dont keep everything i catch. If i did i would need 3 freezers and i could never eat all the fish i catch even if i had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. These are just pics of the days i did keep my catch. I knew there would be a few whiners out there that are just pissed off because they cant put any fish on the ice. I just thought people would like to see the pics. Give me a f&*%in break.

Can't put any fish on the ice eh? That's agood one. Sure there is no reason not to keep a few eaters but you look to me and pics don't lie that you keep many.

Guys,

This winter has been the best year I have seen on Quinte for a long time. It was like the old days (15+ years ago) when a lure could not hit bottom without a wallye hitting it. I have been out 8 times this year and only once did I get skunked. Skunked only when a big walleye got off just below the ice. Other than that, I have averaged at least 5 fish on every outing. One day I stopped counting after 10. (What a day that was, died and went to heaven) I have not caught 40 plus fish in a winter fishing on the BOQ for a long time. Oh, By the way, I let them all go. I enjoy fishing, but I enjoy being outdoors, away from work, even more than beer battered fish.

Dont worry fellas i wont catch all your fish or keep any. You know since im so greedy lol. Man i post a couple pics of a few nice fish i kept and im automatcally a bad guy. Ive caught well over a hundred walleyes this year and kept maybee 25. The fish in the pics arent all mine. I fish with friends and some of the fish are from clients.
