Went down to Shermans point today around noon with my bud Big Nuts to try out his new Clam portable hut. Having never been in one before .... I must say this was a sweet outfit to have less than 5 minutes to put up/down and the chairs are quite comfortable.
The Perch were on the bite all day... we only managed four large enough for the pan.
No walleye to be had until 5 pm when Big Nuts managed a 6.5 lb'er on a silver sidewinder. Quick photo and then released... still full of energy.
Didn't see much action from the 5 groups near by.
We did see a 12 lb'er being walked to a car at 12:30 when we arrived...apparently only caught a few minutes earlier. Likely going to be mounted for the wall we were told.
Heard some mumblings that morning bite has been better than the evening.
Hope everyone has a great final Bay ice weekend.
Hopps.

Hopet this isn't a stupid question.....is it possible that they've left the Shermans area?

As posted, I'm finally getting out tomorrow. Shermans was a thought or Huff's. I've only ever caught 1 walleye (many pike though) thru the ice in my life....I gave ice-fishing up for too many years for various reasons. I want this to be a memorable outing.

Cheers

From what I hear.... Shermans and Huffs are still the places to be for best chances at the big walleye.
I've also heard some success from Massasauga point (Haven't been there myself though).
Time of day may be the key.... with the am being a better producer at Shermans right now. Mind you , the 12 lb'er we saw was pulled through at 12:30 after a morning of nothing but Perch....Just gotta get out and try I guess?
Best of luck tomorrow legacy... wish I could be there too.

We got out Saturday morning at Shermans and on the ice around 10:00. We were straight out from the boat ramp, away from the crowd. A little later than expected but still, we were on the mighty Quinte.

1:10 the first walleye was pulled thru.... 8.2lbs

We hit a few perch for the next few hours then while most were leaving the ice, we hit another at 6:00 pm. :D

The digital scale bottomed out at 15lbs so it was well over that...of course, we were too excited about it and eager to get it back in the water so we forgot to measure it.

BTW....lipping a 15lb+ walleye is quite a thrill

Cheers
