Hi Everyone,

We did run out of minnows yesterday and my wife called Skevy's to make sure they still had some and we have been directing customers over to Skevy's.

As for our minnow supply they will be in today and we will have plenty to last us until the end of the season which is Wednesday and then we will get more for the northern lakes.

Best regards,
Sam

It's almost as hard finding minnows then it is to catch fish....I ended up having to get them in Gan on Friday and the majority were pretty small. :x

I'm sure it's nothing to do with the shop but the supplier.

The good thing though was that they were having a huge sale on tackle. I think it was 50% for summer stuff and 40% for ice fishing.

Cheers

The problem has been that with the bait ban on in the region all of our minnows have to come from quite a distance north of here. The Bait Ban has prevented some of the local suppliers from trapping minnows in the area and have vertually shut them down, therefore we are getting minnows from further north than normal. The suppliers north are getting a larger demand for their supplys as a result of the ban and their ponds and traps are coming up empty. I know we use 4 different suppliers and they have been very good in keeping us supplied as well as their regular outlets.

That being said there are only a couple of us with minnows in the Belleville area ourselves and Skevy's and then you would have to head to Stirling to Sandy's or Deseronto to Moon's. Being the only ones that are serving the Bay of Quinte area we find that we are going through a tremendous amount of bait as well as supplying some of the dealers towards Madoc. All this does create shortages at times.

I have made arrangements for larger tanks and supplies to be kept for us for next ice fishing season as well as opening up the store by 5:00 am to take care of our customers that prefer to get an early start.

Hope this explains our minnow shortages that have been happening.

Regards,
Sam
