Looking to buy a trolling motor for my boat and wondering about the MINN KOTA power drive series has anyone had any problems with the foot control?I see in the lebaron's book they advertise it as a replacement part?That kinda concerns me why do they advertise a replacement part for that ?.My brothers have minn kota units power drive & edge series,I have used the foot control for the edge series which is cable style had good luck no problems anyways.My other brother has the power drive and not a big fan of it matter of fact i have never seen on his boat ?.He say the foot control is too hard to use and bought the co-pilot as a add-on.Any advice would help,Thanks K.M.B.F.

I had a power drive on my old boat and loved the pedel but i did hear about the boards frying in some pedels.

Really depends on what you are using it for. My personal opinion is to buy a cable steering model less to go wrong with them and more durable.

It really depends on your budget for a trolling motor.

I would keep away from Minnkota power drives.... the foot pedal are not worth the money at all...

I know lots of boats around here that have replaced up to 2 foot pedals in one summer... the cost is approx. $125.00 each...

Cable has proven to be the best thing around from what I have seen in the past 25 years on the water. Motor guide and Minnkota make good cable motors.

I have used the power drive with the foot pedal control for over 3 years, do alot of working the shoreline with it, have had not problems. Pedal is left exposed in the open to wind, rain, etc. at the dock..

Used a foot control MinnKota for many years with no problem (bowmount, 36 pound thrust) . Sold it with the other boat. Just bought a new one last fall; 55 pound thrust, bowmount; have the foot control and the remote control pod. Haven't used the foot control much since having the remote. Probably use it more for bass fishing this summer.

I do a lot of bass fishing ( around 200 hours last year ) , so I fished deep water and shore lines . I started with a 42 pound then upgraded to 65 and now I am into a 85 pound with very few issues (all minnkota's). I have also had auto pilot and co pilot which I had no issues with either ( all on a 17' Lund ). The only issue I have found is , when fishing in high winds they are a little slower to react than with the cable style . Any time any parts were ever needed I found Rockey's Tackle in Orillia has had every part needed at a very resonable price ( pins and cushions ).

MinnKota Maxxum. These motors are great. And like Rocky's in Orillia, there is a service and warranty center in Kingston now too. What size are you looking for?
