Just wondering if I cold get some insight on this......

It is my understanding that Perch and Crappie are open year round on the Bay of Quinte. However when I look at the regs. (exception section) it says that it is a fish santuary begining April 1st. Does that mean I cannot fish the Marina, or the mouth of the Moira River for perch and crappie?

Thanks for all the Help !!!!

Here are most of the exceptions I could find that may be of interest for the quinte area. If I have missed any, please make the addition.

Consecon Creek - Hillier and Ameliasburgh Twps., from the dam in the Village of Consecon to Weller’’s Bay.
...Fish sanctuary - no fishing from Apr. 1 - Fri. before 1st Sat. in May

Consecon Creek - Hillier Twp., from Lot 86 in Conc. V to the mouth of the creek.
...Fish sanctuary - no fishing from Apr. 1 - Fri. before 1st Sat. in May.

Lake Ontario.
...A person who is angling from a boat may use two (2) lines in the open waters of
Lake Ontario except for the Bay of Quinte (the waters lying west of the Glenora Ferry
including the Murray Canal, Presqu’’ile Bay, Wellers Bay), East Lake, West Lake,
Frenchman Bay, Hamilton Harbour and all tributaries of Lake Ontario.

Lake Ontario - all waters in Division 8 lying east of Chub Point [east of Longitude 78̊̊00'W.]which is just west of Shelter Valley Creek - Haldimand Twp. This includes the Bay of Quinte (up to the first dam on the Moira and Napanee Rivers and up to Lock No. 1 on the Trent River)and the waters of Prince Edward County (including Consecon, East and West Lakes).

...Walleye catch and possession limit of four (4), zero (0) may be between 48 - 63 cm (18.9 - 24.8 in.) in length and only one (1) may be greater than 63 cm (24.8 in.) in length. Conservation licence limit of two (2), zero (0) may be between 48 - 63 cm (18.9 - 24.8 in.) in length and only one (1) may be greater than 63 cm (24.8 in.) in length. (I believe this link covers the rule to do with the slot now) http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/csb/news/2 ... nr_05.html

Moira River and Bay of Quinte - from the Lott Dam downstream, including Belleville Harbour in the Bay of Quinte.
...Fish sanctuary - no fishing from Apr. 1 - Fri. before 1st Sat. in May.

Napanee River - Town of Napanee from the waterfalls at Springside Park downstream to the bridge at Centre Street.
...Fish sanctuary - no fishing from Apr. 1 - Fri. before 1st Sat. in May.

Trent River - City of Quinte West between the first dam north of Lake Ontario downstream to the
south side of the Dundas Street bridge and the Trent Canal from Lock No.1 downstream to
where it joins the Trent River.
...Fish sanctuary - no fishing from Apr. 1 - Fri. before 1st Sat. in May.

info obtained from http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/pubs/fishi ... fr2005.pdf

There is a helpful article in “ Info. Articles “ Offered by Dan Elliot, it has some maps that may be of use finding those areas that are disqualified..sanctuaries. Mapquest is another good route to go.

this is part of the reason the regs are being changed, they are so vague and hard to understand, with too many "exceptions", it's like reading the agreement you get with a credit card. as I understand it, all waters from the glenora ferry to the murray canal, up to the first dams in rivers joining these waters, are closed PERIOD. I'm not 100%, but if I'm not sure, I don't fish it. right now steelhead being my target, just costs a little bit of gas and time when I go fishing, I see it as being any river or creek that empties "directly" into lake ontario AND south of the railroad tracks, as being open. just make sure before you wet a line.

Can anyone let me know of good Pan fish spots anywhere between Belleville and Hay Bay? What is the best rig and bait? I will be using a boat so anyplace is ok for me. How is the night fishing for these fish? All information will be considered. Thanks.
