What was the total price for your rig?

Congrats on the new rig. Looks like an excellent choice. Smart to buy local. Enjoy!

My good friend has the exact same rig as yours except with a 20 hp Honda kicker.Very nice rig! He got rid of his Princecraft after fishing out of my 1950 Tyee and had to get a Lund! A little slow out of the hole with the Honda but his top end is a respectable 44 mph with a 14x19 pitch ss prop.

I'd have to look at the paperwork and I'm in the States right now for Easter weekend but I'm pretty sure the total price was around $42 000 I looked at so many boats and thought about going with a 115 then decided on the 150 looked at a 9.9 for a kicker then went with the 15 and added controls and power trim for the kicker as well so I have so many prices and totals spinning around my head I can't be sure but it was close to that maybe a bit more. I thought about but didn't add hydraulic steering because it was another $1000 and I'm already over what I really wanted to spend. Any input on that would be appreciated. Is it worth the $1000 or is the "no feedback" steering enough. I was told if I was doing a lot of water sports I would want hydraulic but not really for fishing. Thanks for the input. Muskymike, the 150 is slow out of the hole? I thought about going with a 115 but decided on the 150 because I thought it wouldn't be slow out of the hole. I guess I should be really glad I went with the 150.

Congratulation's!!! That is a great rig!!!

I would recommend the hydraulic steering. I have it on my Ranger and I think it is great. I didn't have it on my Princecraft with a 150 and wish I did many times. When you have paid that much for a loaded rig why wouldn't you get it now rather than wishing you had of put it on later.

Honda's are big heavy motor's, stick a kicker on the transom and it is going to be a dog out of the hole. If you had of went with a 175 2 stroke you would have less weight and a better hole shot with a higher top end. Just curious why you decided on the Honda 150 4 stroke? I've never really looked at the price of the Honda's, but they would have to be more $$$ than a Mercury of the same H.P. for example. How long is their warranty?

It won't be a slow boat, though the 4 stroke Honda is slower out of the hole than a 2 stroke. I have a 135 hp Optimax on my 1950 which is the smallest recommended HP for my boat, and even though my boat weighs 350lbs more than my buddies 1850 ,we have the same top end and i have more punch off the line.We also run the exact same prop.Besides that his 150 Honda is really smooth and quiet so i'm sure you'll still be very satisfied with your boat.Good luck in the upcoming season!BTW i have nothing against Hondas. My 20 hp kicker is a Honda!

Teppy, I've had problems with both. There isn't enough room to get into it all, but to sum up..Ranger: gel coat, battery charger, lights, seat pedestal still not taken care of. Verado: recall that took over a month to fix, power steering/charging/battery problems that took over a year to fix. It was the fact that it takes dozens of phone calls, faxes, emails and finally threatening legal action before Ranger, Merc or the dealer would do anything was the thing that really p'd me off (and having to drive for hours with the kicker to get back to launch while tin cans are wizzing by me). I'm still fighting to get a $100 silencer/dampener kit for the Verado's power steering that they included on the 2006 to keep it quiet....nothing like listening to loud humming for hours on end while trolling. Spend $20gs on a motor and they won't give you a $100 part! Ranger sends you "warranty parts" but UPS will send them back unless you pay $100s in duty and shipping... talk about nickel & diming. I could go on and on....

There, I've vented!

Now that the major problems are fixed I love my rig! And I've found an excellent Merc servicer-Xtreme marine in Etobicoke they actually DO what they say they will!

Some of you may have seen me out in the fall till mid January- white/red/silver 621vs, 250 Verado and 9.9 kicker with the net over the side. Stayed at Merland park.

27 days to go!
