WoW,
I heard rumors but didnt believe it true. I think I am glad I got my fees in for the Quinte Series for this year as I can see there is gonna be a bunch of guys who no longer have the CFT and will want to fish another series.

A huge shock especially after just hearing J.P Derose going on how he hopes to see Canadaian fishing going up with huge payouts and big time sponsors. Well lets face it, not to many people can take the whole summer off or even weeks at a time just to go and stay in hotels, prefish, spend the big bucks for gas and entry fees. And the big sponsors are just not there or unable to dish out the cash. I really hope this does not affect the Quinte Series in a bad way. I am a young guy who is just starting a family and right now can not afford the big entry fees or to be away from my job that much. The Quinte Series is a great series for guys like me who are looking to start into tournament fishing without breaking the bank. Yeah for sure someday when my kids are grown up, I would love to fish the CFT for a year just to see what it would be like but as for right now I think the Quinte Series has a great thing going and would hate to see entry fees hike up just because these "Pros" are looking for a series to fish. But it is sad to see that we can't even maintain a high class tournament series in Canada.

If you are looking for a fishing tourny that won't break the bank, some of the local B.A.S.S. can proved you with some help. The quinte is also a great series to!!

I would expect to see the number of boats increase now that the CFT is not running this season? I believe in the past Pete Thompson spoke about a cap on the number of boats at 75-80. It would be great to see the series grow. More boats means bigger payouts and more sponsor potential.

Maybe someday in the near future the QFS will be comparable to the renegade tour. QFS is known as being a premier series and I have enjoyed any events I have fished.

As for affordable tournaments looking into local BASS Clubs may be something to explore for those looking to get into the tourney scene.

The Quinte Fishing Series (QFS) is not going to raise the rates because the CFT went out of business. The renegade series does very well with its prizes but also consider the cost they charge for fees. The cost is roughly double what one pays to fish the QFS. The per person cost for the full season with Renegade is over $1200. bucks plus membership, launch fees and first time member initation fees.

Renegade is also giving away fully rigged Ranger bass boat though, Dan. Not a 15 foot tinny with a 15 horse on it. I think their paybacks are better too, not to mention they don't fish one lake exclusively.

I'm not taking anything away form the Quinte Series, but it's not really comparing apples to apples either. The Quinte Series is hands down the best run Series around bar none. I would like to see them move it around the Quinte area a bit more though. There are other bodies of water that would be great for a tournament. My hat's off to the Quinte Executive and the good work they do. :D

I hope the CFT comes back though, I loved fishing the Mercury Series. :(

I strongly agree with Dan ,if the people wanted into the other tournaments around they would do so!! We as well have some great fishermen, but they all come back every year!!
To some it is not all about the money the type of boat you may win but the thrill of being in the best run circut around, the freinds you meet, the people on the commitee,no internal bickering or if there is it is handled quickly and professionally!
The Quinte Series is a great outlet for people who cannot afford to travel or just do not want to, and fishing the Bay all the time is not as easy as some may think.
I am definetly not against any one from the CFT coming aboard for the year but leave our rules and regulations alone they have been working fine for years!
OH and my old tinny worked well for many years, still have her!
DON,T FORGET WHERE YOU STARTED I AM SURE IT WAS NOT IN A FULLY RIGGED BASSBOAT

I think the point is being missed here. No one is bashing the quinte series. CFT is not going to come in and tell QFS how to run their series. It just there will be a small increase in the amount of teams due to CFT not being an option and the quinte series being recognized as one of the premier best run circuits out there. I have always enjoyed fishing the series.

In reference to the the tin can for prize for angler of the year that is fine. But would it not be great in the coming years the poetential was there for it to be a rigged bass boat?

The reality is most guys who will win the boat package will never use it and sell it for profit. Not saying that is wrong but the chances are if it was a bigger and better prize maybe not a boat anglers may not sell it and actually make use of it. Would that not be the goal of the sponsors who donated it? This all of course could not happen unless the series was to grow.

All that was being said is with the increase in boats the poetential could be there for bigger and better things.

Pete and the QFS team run a great series that has a lot of loyal members. The sky is the limit.

Just my 2 cents and great job QFS keep up the great work.

No I don,t think I personally am missing the point, sure it would be nice to be like the FLW but then with the extra amount of money and boats would this not make the first time fisherperson less likely to want to get started in a tournament.More people would have to become involved in the commitee, probably some rule changes, etc etc !!
This is a very affordable tournament series open to everyone old and new and if extra sponsorships and endorsements are out there bring them aboard and see where it flies, but as I said above more time would have to be put into it ! and people do not see what is involved by the commitee every tounament. setting up, getting the weigh in boat and stage to the ramp and back, weigh in,newspaper articles, internet articles.ramp fees, liability insurance, commitee meetings, some popular some not rules, enforcement of rules etc etc etc .
WE being fisherpeople just have to show up!!!!
Where were all the big time sponsors except a few when the CFT was running. This conversation would not even take place if they had not cancelled.
I cannot speak for Pete,Margo,Dick and the rest of the commitee but I am sure they are on top of what is going on ,and they will do what they think is best for the QUINTE SERIES with my full support what ever they decide!

Nope, I agree with Kevro, my point was missed.

My point was comparing the QFS to the Renegade Series is not fair. That is all I meant. They are 2 totally different circuits with different goals, needs, entry fee's etc.

I agree 100% that the QFS is an awsome run tournament series and I will always try to do as many as I can (won't be able to them all this year with a new little fisherman due July 2nd) and support the Series and the committee all the way. I just don't want to see these guys who have the sponsors and the dollars to come down and kick us little guys who work thier ass off and save their money to fish this series out of it. This series is also a great way to get young people interested in tournament fishing. As for the prizes I am a LONG, LONG way to even think about contending for AOY, I am just happy to come close to the guys who always seem to be at the top so it really doesn't matter to me. Just trying to become a better angler.

I wouldn't worry about the big guys coming down here and Kicking A$$ Jay. The Bay is so big and diverse, it's like Shelley said, it's not so easy to fish. There are so many patterns you can run on the Bay succesfully in one day it's mindboggling.

Just do your thing, I remember you and Al cashing cheques in the past so you must be doing something right!! :D

I noted the comment about some of the better sponsored anglers coming down and kicking some Quinte butt. I found this very comical, and am convinced that more often than not, that a local angler will win a local event....most of the time. Of course my bias is rightfully towards those from the Napanee/Hay Bay area, but even Belleville or PEC area anglers all have a decent shot.

Coming from out of the area to fish in a tournament on the Bay of Quinte is a tough bill to fill, if one is intent on collecting a cheque. Most are not doing enough homework to be what I would regard as a realistic contender. I can only think of a couple that to me would have a chance, with one of the two being from Napanee and the other filming on a seasonal basis there.....and both having the right connections. There are others that are good, but fishing on Quinte is a whole different beast.....

I hope that this time serves to strengthen what is already a well respected series.
