Well all it has been a long time since I posted on the board. I had to check past reports and get a little caught up.

The gang and I will be heading to the Bay again this opener. The last few years have been extremely though for us. We fished the Picton area trolling the open water for those big ones with little success. In-line planer board and planer board mast, snap weights and every minnow bait in the tackle box was washed.

This year, we are staying in the Deseronto area and will be going back to jigging the deseronto area (Foster, mouth of Napanee, Telegraph narrows). Maybe try a bit of trolling or casting cranks. Should be an interesting spring. Hopefully we hit lots of little fish and maybe get the big one.

What is everyone else planning to do this spring?

Cheers,

Mike

I'll be fishing Brighton again, hope the wind isn't too bad but I want a little breeze to keep the may flies off, looking for overcast, but no rain because I want to go the Brighton Speedway to watch the races after we're done fishing on Saturday. Oh, and throw in a 14 pound walleye, and a few eaters, a tagged one would also be great. Am I asking for too much?

Will need some warm weather soon or Walleye will still be spawning. I wonder what the water temperature is at the present time? Long range it doesn't look like it is going to be warming up much in the next two weeks.

Mike,
Its great to see you back, I always enjoyed reading your contributions to the board. As for the Opener...hmmm... One time while speaking with a long time Guide on the Bay about what to do for the opener he said "That's easy, if it's a late spawn then jig and if its a early spawn then troll" Looking at the calander and the long term forecast it seems its gonna be a "Late Spawn". Get out the jigs and minnows. Seeing as I will be staying at the Trailer in Hay Bay I think I will be fishing the Napanee river and then do a bit of trolling(spinners/worms, CC shad, husky jerks and what ever else catches my eye when opening the tackle box) bacck to Hay BAy. Overcast with a lite breeze (since were placing orders on the weather). :)

I don't particulary care what the weather does, as long as it doesn't rain, sleet, drizzle, snow, flurry, blow too hard from the East (or from the North), as long as it isn't below 15 degrees or above 20, and ............ yeah ............. that about covers it.

Like I said, I don't particularly care what the weather does.

Hey Mux,
If by chance the weather gods see fit to share some precipitation while you and the boys enjoy a pop around the fire, feel free to join us on the awning covered deck just across the street from you. Bring some chocolate cookies for me. There is a severe shortage of chocolate chips in these parts. :D

Well last year I fished the Deseronto area and scored all kinds of 2 pounders. This year is going to be different forsure! I got a place to stay in Deseronto but also feel Belleville will produce well, similiar to last fall!
I dont know if Jigging is the answer, slow trolling could also help, using either spinners in the shallower waters or deep divers in the deeper water. Either way it's always fun and it's a bonus to catch!
Mike :)
