I like many other people have spent the last 2 months anxiously awaiting the opening of Walleye season. I also have been working away fiercely to get my boat ready for the weekend so there won't be any let downs on the water.

Last night after replacing the stator I decided to drag the boat down to the ramp at the bottom of Salmon river in shannonville, I live about 5 mins away and its easier than trying to get earmuffs to work on this engine. Anyway I back the boat in the water and lower the motor down and spark the old girl up! After letting it idle for about 2-3 mins I turned around to find a Native woman standing at the front of my truck, here's how the story goes from there;

She says "What do you think you're doing?"

I say "just running the motor in the water to do a few tune ups"

She says "You can't do that"

I say "Why's that"

She say "No boats allowed in the water during spawning season"

I say "Pardon"

She says "No boats allowed in the water while fish are spawning and thats what's happening right now, during the day is fine but from 6-12 pm no boats!"

I say "well thats +++++ up" and pull the boat what I really wanted to say was

"I doubt my motor running in 2 feet of water is going to disrupt the spawning anywhere near how you disrupt them by trouncing through there freshly laid eggs, and stabbing them with spears!"

Why didn't I speak my mind? well because mostly there was no happy resolve in the future I was either gonna get ganged up on or I'd come home and find my house burnt down or whatever!

Bottom line is this is out of control, someone is going to get hurt and or killed if our damn government doesn't step in and fix this whole situation! First they block our roads, the one's we pay for with our tax money, now they give me the boot from a boat ramp that I'm sure my tax money paid for. I dare any white, Black, French or any other ethnicity to try and get away with the *** they are allowed to flood our world with! Not gonna happen any other race would be charged or worse!

I know this is more of a rant but I'm completely fed up with this BS! It's pretty damn sad, that this has to happen because this is the *** that creates racism and hatred! I know she's only one of them but the problem is she is allowed to portray that attitude in public because they know there's nothing anyone can or will do! and thats SAD!

That's an incredibly sad happening, Maverick. :x

Stupid question maybe but....is it true that you can't have boats in the water from 6-12 pm?

Not trying to stir the pot but if so, maybe they should have a spearing allowable time too then.

Cheers.

I assume you are talking about the ramp in the little park near hwy two and shannonville rd.

I had a terrible experience with a few natives thier last spring. I was basically doing the same thing tuning up the boat. after it was ready i went for a ride down the river. Bad idea. Had a drunk Native tell me and my buddy he was going to kill us because we were on the water, then another boat nearly ran us over. I was quick leaving, i feared for my new truck sitting at the launch.

I agree this is going to turn to violence if someone doesnt do something! Ive never heard of that law but if it's true they should stay out of the water as well if they care so much about the eyes SPAWNING! TOTAL BS!
If you were Native she wouldnt have said anything I BET $1000000! I would have called the cops if they were chasing me or threatening me in there boats or from land! They can still BE CHARGED! Yup sure is making it out to be ONE FOR ALL KINDA WORLD which makes me SICK!

No matter where you go you got bylaws and such, no boats after 6 pm can't be that hard to live with, come on down to the county where you need a building permit to change a faucet.

Your right though, we got to start electing gov.s that will do their job, nobody should have to hold a million dollar protest just to get the gov. to do the job they applied for and are paid to do.

I was at a ramp where there was a movie outfit there using the ramp There was one guy there with 2 huge motor homes with orange cones around them taking up the turn around spot so I had to move one of his cones to wiggle around them. A minute later another guy shows up, it was obvious the bone head had called security on me for moving the cone.

I would be very surprised to find this a bylaw of any kind, not to mention if it is then it should be posted...

Also it's quite obvious that this was because I am white and thats that! It was presented to me that the boat being in the water was disturbing the spawn, Ya right and them traipsing threw the freshly laid eggs isn't disturbing the spawn :x
