It was a cold weekend out there on the ice . But managed to locate some walleyes with the Vex. After finding them it was a tough bite but managed to catch a few fish but were in the slot but nice to see .The baits that worked this weekend were crippled herring in the 1/4 oz and the mr champ in the 1/2 oz size .Good luck and remember to sespect the ice and it will sespect you .

Hardwaterwalleye,

How about some info we could all use. We
know you can catch fish. We just want to
learn from you. That's what this site is all about.

Just knowing the right lure does not help catch fish
as most of us know.

Where were you?
How deep?
What time of day?
What times did you catch your fish?
Was it overcast or sunny?
Was there a crowd?
Where they hitting hard?
Are you using stinger hooks?
Where were the agressive fish in the water column?
Did fish bit on the rise or the fall?
Could you see the fish on your finder before they hit?
Are you jigging with one or two rods?
What test line are you using?
What colurs are working?
What type of bait? Shiners, muds etc.
What was the bottom like?
Are you fishing structure break?

Good Fishing,

BATMAN

HEY Hardwater,
How about a map or a Gps sounding of the exact hole you had cut and were fishing with. or, how about the type of beer you drank when you were done, or, why don't you take the 'Caped Crusader' out for a day.
Hey Batman, there is a reason we call this fishing and not catching. It's not luck that catches fish, its experience, and I'm guessing you'll have to get this the old fashion way - EARN IT.

What a "Nice Friendly Board".

I thought "Message Boards" were for sharing info, with all board users.
"EMail" is for point-to-point information sharing between specific individuals.

I guess the the name of this discussion group says it all "Beg and Brag".

This is not as helpfull as it could be. Too much "Bragging".

Dogboat,

I think smallmouth read my message wrong. You have
hit the nail on the head. This may be a Bragging board,
but the majority of those online are here to learn something.
I comment on Hardwaterwalleyes (Dicky is his real name)
because he just Brags about the catch and he has never
given us any information. If I go out, I always give a detailed
report that someone could use, and have. And anyone that
knows me, knows I have more that put my time in.

Yep...

Nobody knows everything.... and if they trick without treating, then that is bad ethics. IMHO

PS.. will name the next dog "Vex", so I can walk'im and smile.

Luck to all. Will be at the bridge tomorrow after work.... can't resist fishing in +2. Just over a week to go. :(

Come on Lads!!? I mean read any posts I've put on this ice season - all informative. This board is helpful for the serious and casual angler. But read your post - He'd have carpul (sp?) tunnell by the time he answered that. I fished alot and fished with lots of guys on this board, and any/all fisherman will tease you with need to know information - like what he was using; but seldom much more. As I eluded, that's ok - experience will help you the rest of the way. It just read quite funny, that's all. I mean you could just as easily go to Ultra and buy the walleye, it's cheaper in the long run - but we choose to hunt them. No hard feelings lads, good luck out there, and stay safe this weekend.
PS: if guys are heading to 25' depths at the Des. bridge - thats awfully close to the springs that were froze last week but won't be this week.

Smallmouth,

My list is just some of the questions someone might ask
when they run into a fellow fisherman that had some luck.

There was a bit of sarcasm in my post if you didn't notice.

I just wanted Hardwaterwalleye to answer at least one question.

And thankfully, he did.
