I am heading to Ottawa this weekend to visit a buddy and to try some musky fishing in the Ottawa River. Canadian Fishing magazine raves about the musky in the Ottawa river. Has anyone ever tried it? If so whats good?, where? and so on. I'd love to post a pic Sunday night!

In last issue of ESOX Magazine there is an article on lunge 'catching' on the ottawa river. ....the guide was Marc Thorpe and I believe him to be available at marcthorpe .com

Well I hope you didn't go fishing the Ottawa River for musky because you would have been a week or two early on the opening season for those fish.

Musky opened in Area 9 this past weekend. Rideau River etc. The Ottawa River is Area 12.

Gotta check those regs... or risk losing what little you got for tackle, boat and car.

I always wanted to fish that stretch. Its beautiful passing by on the 416. One would think that it would hold some monsters.

I've yet to fish there but my friends have and mentioned it's a great fishery.

All I know is that this time of year my friends would use the 6" jointed stalker copper/sucker pattern and would kill em' (figure of speech LOL  )

Good luck man!!

There's good fishing from James Island all the way down to the Catchall. Troll the weed edge (which is what the "Weedeau" mostly is) down the main channel and cast around the bridges, by the bouy at Kemptville creek, the flats at the end of James Island, the Catchall and any other Muskie structure type spots. They're in there. Good luck.

The Rideau holds a bunch of nice musky for sure. Every stretch has a musky hole or what looks like it should hold musky.

I have a hard time targeting them when I am fishing for musky... but let me put on a bass bait and oh my God I can find them then.

Can you say......"Topwater Buzzbait"?

Bandit we will get you out there sometime.
