G'Day folks.....and,
......"Happy Belated Musky Day"

I was fishless for the 5-6 hours I was capable of being out on the water but to just be out there drowning a few Believers, Large Spinnerbaits and a variety of buck/bootails sure felt good.
Found something wrong with my casting reel....the line doesnt peel off. It worked fine on shore.....musta been when I was oiling it and had it apart??????????
Well I went with my trolling reel....good ole standbye Abu Garcia and it worked well.....just wasnt used to casting with it........
All in all..a nice day to be out on the water........
Here's to many more........hopefully I'll have a few pics and stories to swap with ya's.

My muskie opener was the same as yours , 6 hours on the water , one follow and a nice pike (7 pounds and had bite marks on its back and tail!!).Slow but nice to be out there.

Hmmm...Seems we all share a common day. Four of us tried on Crowe Lake and enjoyed drowning our lures too trying to get Mr. Musky to come out and play. Maybe they are all still hibernating? Anyone else have any luck and care to share a lake name?
I see you are from the same area Brix. Did you try a little closer to home than we did?

I was at Lower buckhorn on Monday and caught this 45" musky on a bumblebee suick. I had 4 follows. 1 snapped me off on topwater but got the bait back and lost one.

My buddy landed 2, one of which was small and released boatside, and here is the other he caught.

Here is a walleye I also caught on the bumblebee suick.

On the Sunday we fished Stoney Lake and lost a fish in the low 30 pound range, a real beauty we had it boat side 4 times but she spit the hooks.

Nice fish! Glad to see your catching them. I will be trying for some in the river very soon. Hopefully I can get some too.

Where I'm located south of Montreal I gotta wait until the 15th of this month for the opener :(

Cannot wait to hear that drag Ripppppppp!!

Last season musky fishing I caught a 13lb. walleye twitching a 9" squirrly ernie, watched that pig cruise up to the boat and calmy take that lure like nothing LOL, what a rush.

Cheers,
FatPat

Like the rest said..........Exellent catches for your opener teppy.
They are some clean looking fish.
Lower Bucky was always my opening day location then on to Pigeon for the rest of the season pretty much.
Where at L-B did you nail those critters?.......We normally set out near the 3 sisters islands.......then troll upNdown the long shoal right in the middle on our way to BlackDuckBay............Oooooooops, said enuff..
Adventure.....I see your from Frankford as well.........Yeah man, I stayed close to home. It was my first outing on the river and Ive a lot to learn.
Fortunately I never locked down my ttiller, so, when we hit those large, just under the surface rocks my prop survived the ordeal. This river seems to have all the neccessary ingredients,,,,,,Thick to sparse weed on one side and shallow, dropping off deep with rocky structure.......and across the opposite side as you get shallow again it is a mixture of sparse weed and rock. It has all the transitions one would think to be great for lunge fishing.......NOW, to find them.
Anyone interested in getting out who knows this area please give a shout, theres always room for one more. A little lunge knowledge would be great but also interested in knowing whether or not the odd pickeral can be had from this area...........Seems the neighbours are pretty hush, hush from those that do fish...and thats not many of them........never seen more then 2 boats out fishing at anytime as far as the eye can see??????????????????..does that mean theres no fish.

Hey Brix,
I'll assume you were down the lower end where you met up with the rocks. It's littered with them as you found out. Of course the top end has the same rock recipe for mashed prop stew as well. If you venture out of the bouys at either end of this stretch, you're best to go about 1 mph and stand in the front of the boat to steer around them. There are lunge and eyes in there as do all the different sections of the Trent river.

Hey adventure..........thanks for the heads up, I believe I've found most of that info regarding thr rocks and will look at it as common for the area..........best words...Prop beware.
If theres that many rock tho..the fishing got to be more then half decent.
Time on the water will tell thats all...time on the water.
Thanks bud..........thanks.
I'm open to any get together if you have the time..and for that matter with anyone else who may be interested,.....I do have a full concrete launch out back.........just got to watch your props lads.
Just kidding, I've spent some time clearing the area at my launch of debris and it is safe,,,,,even have parking for vehicles if anyone is interested.

brix.

Thanks for the invite to fish or use your launch, A launch is hard to find on this strech of water. I normally go fishing on the spur on the moment but will give you a shout if coming your way. Did you check the spots I e-mailed you?

You used to be able to launch in Glen Ross on the north side of the canal below the lock but they closed it a few years back. Anyone know why?
