Most of the Charter guys are using 35-40 lb fluorcarbon leaders, rather than braid to prevent bite offs

Great reports keep them coming please. I used to do charters out of Wellers Bay when I was in high school for two summers. Any action on Scotch Bonnet?

When we first started salmon fishing out of Wellington we would get them right off the sandbanks for a couple days. Anybody remember what time of year that was? I remember fishing with a large pack of boats and I don't think it was late in the season.

Salmon are still hitting well off of the bonnett. Just west of the bonnett in about 100 - 125 feet has been hottest. riggers down 100' with green/silver spoons has been best. Today was just beautiful great weather and the fish were hitting. I didn't have as much luck as a few others out there but it was a gorgeous day and the fish were hitting. One guy on the radio said he couldn't get his cooler closed it was so full. The top of the Sun leader board is Charlie Cole 29.20 from the bonnett yesterday.

I was heading out to the bonnett this morning when the storm blew in. Thanks to Chris at the tacklebox (reel thing) for weather updates on the radio. A lot of boats came off the water so lets hope this weather keeps everyone off the lake and Charlie's fish holds out!!! It woud be nice to see a local win the week. Good Luck Charlie!

I posted a report about yesterday but it didn't seem to make it on...maybe I didnt' submit it. Anyway fishing was good yesteday but the fish were deep 100 - 110 feet. We didn't do as well as some of the others. Skamper couldn't get his ice box closed it was so full!!!! Best lures were green and silver we had best luck on an NK 28 tried the mag 80 but didn't have any luck my go to flasher and fly also didn't do anything. Anyone else out? How did you do?

Not sure how Al did. I didn't hear him on the radio yesterday. I know he is headed out this weekend.

Looks like I'm going to be able to make it down this weekend :D Hopefully we will see you around the bonnet. Here is a radar weather link, it gives a good snap shot of what is going on and what is comming in... It's a long link so make sure you copy it all.

Good luck, see you on the big lake CC Lad (Moose II)

Thank you CC Lad I haven't seen that one. I usually use http://www.intellicast.com/National/Rad ... imate=true it has a pretty good loop of the radar shot. I just didn't look at it this morning. I looked at the marine forcast and the weather net forcast both just showed rain for this morning then thunderstorms for this afternoon. Then the marine forcast switched to a thunderstorm warning and a small craft advisory for early this morning. Anyway, it turned out to be beautiful after the storm blew over. I wonder what that did to the bite????? Anyone know?

We were out this morning at the Bonnet and there were a total of 6 boats out there. We fished for about an hour and then it started to rain. Today we only landed one at 17.5 lbs.

We did try several lures blueberry muffin, Michael Jackson, spin doctors with Howie flies and did not produce any results. We then tried an rubber bait that simulates an anchovie and that was the lucky bait that worked this morning.

When we left there were only 3 other boats out there, we will let the weather sit for a couple of days and then try it again.

Regards,
Sam

Quit day at the Scotch Bonnet yesterday. No may fish being reported caught, not much activity at the back of all the boats. We managed 1 bow (6lbs Blue silver NK dwn 85 ft of chain) and 1 release - that was it. WE worked all over the map in and around the bonnet. The screen was almost blank to the west and south side. WE did find some fish sitting of the eastern arm of the bonnet, but no taker's. There were some reports of fish being taken out off the south side of the wall but we decided to work the bonnet and not move. I think one or two boats did ok - 5 for eight but from the reports I was hearing, there was a lot of lures washed. Maybe the storm + all the rain + the big wind messed stuff up. Hopefully it will pick back up again and we will giver her another go on the weekend.
