Well down for a few days to fish the bay and what a few days it was. Well one day anyway as we didnt get out on Friday with the high wind and rain we thought we would just hold off so we spent the day with my good friend Coors Light!! Saturday morning me, my dad and my wife launched at the Hay bay launch bright and early 6:45 am. Hit willow point right off the bat for some topwater action. We caught 12 fish between the 3 of us in an hour and 15 minutes all on topwater with the biggest 4 lbs. At 8am sharp I had a big hit on my torpedo so I set the hook and jerked it out of his mouth, the lure came flying back and hit me right in the forarm. There it is past the barb and stuck in my arm. We tried to get it out with the fillet knife but no luck. So my wife and I head off to Napanee hospital for some minor surgery. All is well and the doctor removes the hook with no problem. While I'm in the hospital some poor gentelman gets rushed in who had a heartattack on the water this morning, things didnt look good when we left but I do hope things turned out ok for him and his family. Back on the water by 10 and we decide to go over to shermans point to check things out. We start drift jigging at buoy Q8 for the next 2 hours just drifting out then back to the buoy and drifting out again. We boated 9 walleye between 15-19 inches. I was the lucky one as I caught all 9. I was using an 1/4 ounce rattlin jighead tipped with a leech I couldnt keep them off. My dad was using the same jig but tipped with worm and all he caught was 3 sheepshead. My wife was using the same size jighead but different colour tipped with a plastic grub and she never got a hit. Leeches were hot today, not sure if many people use them on the bay as I havent read much on this board about them. We also were checked by the police today for all the usual stuff.

Good report - glad to hear that some fish are being caught at Hay Bay.

We'll be back after the first of August.

Nicely done, sounds like loads of fun (minus the setback in the arm)

Talking about hooks lodged in various body parts I remember this story Kevin from merlands shared with me ( i think it was him, if not then someone else at the fall gettogether). A guy had rented a boat from Kevin and so Kevin took him down and showed him how to opertae the boat. They guy was off fishing not ten minutes and Kevin sees him coming back to the dock and pointing at his ear while driving the boat. When he got closer Kevin realized he had a crankbait through one of his ears. While he had been trying to get it out a rouge wave hit the rental and knocked himover thus sinking one of the other barbs through his finger. Now he has the crankbait through the ear lobe one one end and his finger impaled on the other end. I think they nicknamed him Homer. :D
