I just want to confirm catch limits for BoQ. I have a Sportfishing License. Is the catch limit six 6 walleye per day? So is you fish 3 days, you are allowed up to 18 fish. Possession limits cannot exceed the total catch limit for the number of days fished. Have I understood this this correctly?

I used to think that you could never have more than 6 walleye in your possession. But if you look at the MRN's brochure, it says six in one day. This is what's confusing me.

I believe that you can not have more than one days limit in your possession. Therefor, 6 fish is all you can have in your possession in any one time. Also, if you catch six, eat two, you technically are not supposed to go out and catch 2 more in that same day. Next day, you still have 4 fish, you can only catch two more

You are correct. On the MNR's site they say:

"The catch limit is the number of fish you are allowed to catch and keep in one day. The possession limit is the number you are allowed to have in your possession on hand, in cold storage, in transit, etc. Possession limits are the same as one day's catch limit except where otherwise specified."

So catch and possession is one in the same unless otherwise indicated.

Sportfishing limit is 4 and 2 for conservation. Only one over 24.8 inches I believe. No slot.

cheers

I stand corrected Ken, you are right, catch limit is 4 for the sportfishing license, not six. I wasnt paying attention to the limit, just the interpretation of what you can have in your possession. I will be up next week for three days at Perfect Vue so glad I was corrected.

Hi Darren,

you'll be there just in time for Superdad's return. A bunch of us will be by Perfect Vue next Saturday including Superdad for lunch so will probably bump into you. Have a good trip.

cheers
Ken

actually...knowing that the annual Bayview/Perfect Vue get together is scheduled for August 4th, we will be leaving August 3rd. SuperDad contracted with me to do some pre fishing to find fish for him for Saturday :) ...just kidding.... Will try and post any success or failures when I get back home here in Northern New York on Friday afternoon.

I plan on trying some different things to see if we can turn on the fish. It was interesting to read that there was some success drifting jigs with leeches across Sherman's. That is the way we always used to fish that area in the hey day of the Bay.

Daren,

Just drop me a line on the 3rd when you get home and tell where the fish are for the 4th of Aug - so we can clean up

I should be back to Hay Bay on the 1st - so we will see you on the water or at Perfect Vue.

David aka Superdad

PS CU 2 Ken
