I have never been to Hay Bay during the middle of summer. In the spring I just troll worm harnesses. Can this be done or does it get too weedy? I'm thinking casting or trolling spinner baits with white grubs and minnow baits like floating rapalas might work if the weeds are thick. Any feedback on conditions and possible lures?

White spinner baits with the grubs work well

Does it get very weedy in the bay? By the looks of it in the spring I would assume that it does.

Thanks,

Jfish,
It can get very weedy in the bay but this draws the walleye as you have experienced. The weeds are nearly at their peak and will begin to disapate towards the end of August...larry

Thanks for the info guys. Headed out to Hay Bay Sat. of the long weekend. I wasn't too pleased to see zero other boats out there. Didn't make me feel too confident. Anyways, stayed until about 12 noon and landed a bunch of white perch, a few pike and 1 eye which was around 2.5 lbs. Unfortunatley when my buddy tried to net it the hole that was in it that we tied up earlier on, came undone. Of course the lure gets stuck in the net and bye bye Mr. Walleye. Oh well it was fun out there though. I ended up catching a nice 6lbs walleye out of the lake where my GF's cottage is on. That is a huge eye for the size of the lake. I wanted to get a pic of it but nobody had a camera and she wasn't fitting into the livewell that great so I couldn't take it back to the cottage for a pic. Ended up just releasing it there. Beaty fish though.
