I was at the CSFL Bassmania weigh-in on the weekend and heard the stories of some of these guys going for long runs out of the Bay and into L.Ont to the american side for smallies, do you really have to go that far to find big smallmouth?
Local knowledge must know better?
thanks in advance
ray

The big smallies school up when the water warms out in the lake. The Ducks on the Canadian side, Gallou Island area on the American side

Thanks for the response
I'll have to find a map and look for myself to see where these islands are. I didn't know if these guys were just protecting their secrets or telling the truth.
Thanks for posting

Yeah Dan that was early in July, I went out on the Saturday. Good ride out, Lots of fish , lots of fish and chips but it rained that night so we didn't get into the tunes.

As always getting back is half the fun, we left early Sunday before the wind kicked up but some of the boats had a rough ride in and some had water in fuel problems. Word is one boat was over 12 hr Main Duck to Picton.

Is there a certain direction of wind to watch out for? or certain tell tale signs not to bother when coming out the gap.
