If you consider perch a pan fish...then yes...in fact we had several meals this winter...Here we skin them like a mudcat, toss in flour and fry up in butter and oil...Cant beat it...and if you are not afraid to try something different,,,instead of throwing out the egg sacks...( newfies callem peas),, toss them in flour and cook with salt and pepper in the same oil...awesome...has the texture of cornmeal,,but tastes like smelt....great to try,,,fun finger food....Let me know what you think....Netter :)

Hardwaterwalleye,

This winter I caught the odd jumbo perch in Hay Bay.
They were truely monster perch.

If I knew where to caught Crappies through the ice, I
would be there. I tend to put away my equipment
after the Quinte closing, and wait for the spring thraw.

Do you know of any Crappie locations north Napanee
or Kingston?

I hope to try Rice Lake in May.

Rob2222, Are you from Kingston.

I have fished Colins Lake a few times at the fall.
I have caught only the odd crappie. I was
always fishing for bass though.

About 2 years ago I was on Colins in late October. At
the east end of the lake close to the ramp I saw a ton of
arcs on my Lowrance in about 30-35 feet of water along the
south shore. Since I was all fished out, I did not drop a line.
I suspected that they were crappie. I assume crappie are
deep at that time of year.

By the way, did you know that alot of pike have been caught
this year in both little and Big Collins lake? Collins lake only
had muskies in the past.
