Quinte Fishing

hey guys,
My expierence on the bay is limited to bass and winter walleye...

Is it possible/practical to fish the bay in the fall without using divers or planers?
Am I limited to certain areas? if so, any reccomendations
Trolling?Drifting?Jigging?

Any advice or suggestions really appreciated..

Hi Derek,

I have had a few guys coming into the store today stating that they have been jigging for walleye and doing well yesterday. They were fishing at Point Anne and at Rushbar and limiting out on ones that are a couple of pounds. You can troll for walleye and use spinner baits with worms as they are also doing well at the present time. We will have minnows for the weekend as more are asking now for them. Jigging spoons dressed with minnows are working as well.

There are many fishers who jig for fall walleyes. The area they concentrate on is in the deep areas off Thompsons Pt.

I've been there some November ago and counted 25 boats drifting and jigging.

Bringing fish up from 40-50' requires some finesse as that's quite a depth and they blow up.

Many who fish there get many smaller fish (2-4lbs) as opposed to the double digits caught by the trollers.

To troll for the fall fish, Dipsy and Planers ARE NOT required, you'll catch fish flat-lining using the same lures.

As Tom Gustar said: You can catch 3-4 fish flatlining; but using planer boards you'll catch 10 fish.

You can fish the way you feel comfortable with and still get fish.
