Wiggler ~ We also harvested enough of those suspended weeds to make the local farmers proud

I think I seen you boys out there? Did you have yellow rain gear on? I was fishing the oposite side of you also in a Legend.

1lastcast,

On sunday we both had on yellow and black jackets. Fishin' in a 15ft green Legend. Did you have a full canopy? You may have swung by us at one point coming back up to make another troll with the wind.

Later in the day while fishing the south shore every one of our lures picked up weeds but didn't hinder the board action so we didn't know. It wasn't until the board itself picked up weeds or we made a change did we find the weeds on the lures.
At one point we trolled right through about 6-7 bait balls headin' with the wind. More than likely we had weeds and walleye don't like salad. :)

A method I like to use after a big blow on Quinte when weeds come out of the big shallow bays (Thompson and Shermans Point area are famous for this after a strong North Wind) is to place a snap weight clip with no weight on the line about 20 feet ahead of the crank bait. As the weeds slide down the line they get caught on the clip and do not fowl up the bait. Some days the weeds are so bad you have to long line with no boards so you can keep an eye on the action of the crank-baits. Now long line trolling with 4 lines and no planer boards takes some practice.

I dident have the top on the boat :( Its at my trailer. I think next time out I'll have the top on.

Great tip Sheldon! We marked bait balls and at one point suspended fish although the arcs seemed more flat then the fish I marked last weekend. I read this as simply inactive fish and after passing the area a few times we moved on. Again we had major issues with the weeds as well. Not even knowing untill the boards would catch them.

i know its a pain, but bring a small timer in the boat, and set it to 15-20 minutes...

everytime it goes off, check the lines....

0 dipsy on 3 setting 30 feet down.

To calculate depth vs line out, I would recommend you pick up Precession Trolling Big Water Edition as every one runs different line and setups.

We already had 4 lines out with cranks behind in-line boards and I had forgot my extra in-lines in the truck so I used the dipsy to get baits away from the boat. I usually always run cranks be hind in-lines as most deep divers have not problem targeting fish 30 feet down.
