I think you need a scale....that's one hell of a bass

I've been fishing the Hydro Plant from shore. Although I haven't had the luck, I had been hearing that people are getting some incredible walleye in the evening.

Last week, there were some good browns and rainbows too.

Good luck
Cheers

BTW.....welcome to the board, Ovrk1ll.

It's great to have some more people sharing shore fishing. Although I have a boat, I still do most of my fishing from shore.

We should have a "hooked up" page for people looking to go out fishing in someones boat or those looking for someone to join them.

My buddies are pansies and won't go out if it's cold, windy, wet or a day that ends in "day"

Cheers

OVRK1LL I do not get a chance to do as much fishing from shore as I used to but I can tell you this forsure this time of year can be the best shore fishing for big walleyes than any where else.

My suggestion would be to fish Miers pier when the wind is blowing against the pier.SW or West and throw big diver body baits into the wind and retrieve slowly back.

This can be some unruley weather to fish in against the wind but it will pay off big time.

Personell best off this pier is 14.8 33" long walleye. and I have seen bigger.

This approach also can be duplicated with a nasty NE wind in the bay at Picton with the same results.

Talk with some local tackle stores in these areas and they will get you on the proper working baits.

Dress warm and go have fun.

Darren

I caught the one in my sig. a year ago to this date at Miers pier,it went 11.8lbs.

I do alot of shore fishing and found just after the sun hits the horizen things turn on, also found the worse the weather the better.

I remember one time when I lived in Belleville I went to the pier when there was a ice storm going on. The wind was crazy and was the only guy fishing off the pier at night. I got a whole bunch that night and it was too bad I didn't have a scale handy but I got a HUGE walleye, I'm guessing close to 15lbs easy!!

Back then fast-tracs and long-A-bombers were the ticket, slowly cranked in and the colors went from blk/silver to floro patterns.

I found that firetiger ya can't go wrong with and is what I used last year to catch that 11.8lb'er. Was using the deep diving long-a bomber.

I wanted to go there again this season but ripped my tendons on my right wrist and will be out of commission :( totally pi$$ed needless to say.

Good Luck Man and bring a good camera,
FatPat

Tried the pier last night after work (2:15 am).Strong west wind, moon was high and the tables said the peak fishing times for the day was 2:42am - 4:45am seemed perfect.

Caught nothing but a cold!

Will try again.
