Hey guys, I was planning on coming down on Sat. or Sun and was wondering if it is still possible to launch and get out of Picton harbour. I want to have one more kick at the can this year and this weekend would be it. Last weekend was really sucessful with a new PB for me of 13.3lbs.

If I can still launch at Picton harbour and get out I will be there.

Thanks for the help.

Don

remember, a skim of ice is easy to break.

i'm sure it wont be thick enough (0.5" or so) to worry about not breaking.

if you can, keep going down the road and cross the ferry. (or mcfarlanes park on your way to the ferry)

The outlook is for cold temps and extreme winds.....any suggestions as to where to launch and fish with windy conditions? They're saying up to 90 kmh gusts.... 8O

ie. Eastern winds.....launch at and fish ????
West winds.........launch at and fish ????

Other than stay home, suggestions would be greatly appreciated for safety sake.

Cheers.

stay away from the big water.

launch out of belleville/desoronto/etc (inland area's) and work the shallower water with stick baits...

personally, i wouldn't even come close to the big water.

another option is deep in haybay....but the east/west winds arent' the best there, its better with a north/south wind....

if i was to go, i'd launch out of desoronto with an east wind, or belleville with a west wind...and plan to fish shallow.

I agree with Steve, plenty of big fish to be had in the Narrows or around Forresters island. Can't tell you how many times the waves were insane around the Ferry docks and almost calm as glass around Deseronto. Better safe than sorry, and you'll still catch fish. Good luck.

Launched at ferry terminal this morning. A little slippery but nothing a little sand couldn't fix. Was quite windy with blowing snow and reduced visibilty, but it only lasted for a little while. Was trolling with the wind and the 15 or so other boats that were out there. We were east of the ferry, managed to hook into 3 before lunch. Lost one bringing her in and the other 2 were between 7 & 8 Lbs. All in all it was a good morning and was glad to get out.

Well thanks for the input guys but after thinking it over I have decided to pack er in and not risk the drive. The weather conditions around here right now are terrible and not worth the risk. Oh well at least I got a new PB last weekend of 13.3 lbs. Good luck to you guys going out this weekend, be careful.
