It depends how much time you are prepared to make the trip. The plant is near Picton. If you have a fairly large boat just go straight down Hay Bay on the north shore until you come to a big open bay and its on the same shore. Be aware that very LARGE lake freighters are there constantly and kick up a large wake. But on opening day you will see a lot of boats trolling from the plant across to Thompson`s Point and into Mallory Bay. Lots of luck.

Bayview Resort to the Cement Plant is an eight (8) mile run.

Bayview to Ram Is is one mile.

Bayview to Shermans Pt is five miles.

That's the distances from your base of operation.

Get hold of a map from the website and find the major points mentioned in the various posts.

Opening day is very popular at Ram Is, Shermans Pt and in front of the cement plant in the deep water.

Many use planer boards for the big deep water, others finesse the points like Shermans.

All in all - it's crap shoot. Map a plan and try and follow it and see what the results from Sat and modify if necessary for Sunday.

This is predicated on fishing Opening Weekend, by which if you're out at 0600, you will have missed six hours of fishing and the fish will have seen lures and baits for six hours.

If you're at Bayview on Friday night drop over to the campfire with the trailer crowd, Ken & Jo will be there - so will Superdad. Say hello.
