Does anybody know what the rules are if you have a youth with you fishing. I am pretty sure they do not need a license. But does there catch go under your possession limit or do they have there own limit. And if it is there own limit what is it. Any help would be great.

They are allowed the same limits as if they had a fishing license. What ever they catch does not go under your limits.Page 5 of the new reg.book.
That is if you are a resident of Ont. Non resident under 18 can fish but what ever he /she catches counts towards the adults limit, also the non resident under 18 can purchase a fishing license and then catch his or her own limit of fish.

they have to have there birth certificate with them and that acts as their license.

The limit for kids is based on the conservation licence and not the sport licence limit. So half of the limit for the little ones.

Ok thanks guys. I looked it up in the regs after it was mentioned in your response. As far as I can tell from the regs. The kids have to have birth certificate with them and they can have a sportsman limit. Which would be 4 in area 20. Thanks for all your help.

What if you are just practicing catch and release? Does the child have to have his birth certificate to fish? Sorry, I don't have the new reg book yet.
