Quinte Fishing

I am looking for charter boat contacts for 1 or 2 large boats in the 24-30+ ft. class, fishing out of Picton or Wellington. By large, these must be able to handle 6- 8 guests at a time per boat. Timing is or should be the end of June, with the function being a small fishing trip, type event for a gentleman that is getting marryed.

Thank-you for the reply. Walleye or salmon/steelhead would be nice. Hopefully I will be able to identify someone that is well appointed for this type of get together. It sounds sort of fun to me.

If it was just for me....lol....I would prefer jumbo yellow perch.

Most of the big boats 30' +/- charter out of Toronto area and I don't think the salmon would be good at the west end of the lake in June.

You probably don't want to get NY license but Oswego is great in June and there is a guy there with a 36' boat there. http://www.coldsteelsportfishing.com/charter.htm

I've seen a larger boat that looks like it comes out of brighton an older boat but certainly big and would suit your needs fine. Does anyone know who that is?

Ian Scrimshaw of Open season charters -out of Wellington http://www.openseasonlodge.com/ has a 24' +/- and might be able to take 6 I think but I don't think 8.

Kevin of Strike II charters http://www.anglersrest.ca/ is also in Wellington and has a 24' as well.

I can take 4 but thats it. Although I can easily accomodate you all right on West Lake and Kevin and Ian would pick you guys up from our docks. It would cost more but three boats together will get you onto fish faster and everyonoe gets more action. Late June was awesome last year for salmon out of wellington.

Scotts idea of multipul boats sounds like a far better thing than 8 guys on one boat man you would really have to get into the fish in hopes of everyone having at least one fight if you do it in rotations......... added the boats can seperate a bit and surch out the fish yet still be close enough to eachother to yell back and forth in a taunting manor lol ' thouse guys work hard out there but still a good day is 4 or 5 fish when the fishing is hot , just my 2 cents worth , dont mean much but ive been on a few chaters both canadian, and state side , we wont even get into high sea conditions where as at least these guys also know the westlake waters where they can put you on some walleye jigging if the lake is rough , best of luck to you grizz

I believe the Brighton boats referred to are Captain Ernie's. I don't know if Rick is still operating but they have two boats both over 30'.
I also agree that two boats would be better, any more than 6 fishermen and you don't get to handle a rod very much.

Not 100% sure but I think the phone # is 613 475 3904. Been out with Rick a number of times and have always had a great time, only ever skunked once. I doubt there's a harder working Captain on this end of the lake.

Hey Scott, I missed most of the salmon fishing last year, is the Netty- JO still in Wellington? Thats a pretty good size boat, about 26' center console.

My dad and I have gone out the last two years in the fall with Fish Finder charters and have found it to be both an excellent time, but a good value as well. Dave -- the captain -- is extremely knowledgable and always puts us on fish. We like is so much we've already booked our spot for Oct 2008. There is a link and add is right above in the banner adds.

I think I know the boat you are talking about it was moored to the east of the main docks. I didn't see it go out last year but if we are thinking about the same boat then it was moored there. Check with Chris at the reel thing he would know for sure.

Thats the one, I think he charters these days.

Wellington would be a good choice, the charter captn's get along well together, small groups in smaller boats get more guys a chance at a fish and if the weathers crappy you can fish eyes in West Lake.
