I was visiting the Springside Community Fish hatchery in Napanee today, and had a pair of facinating senior visitors from New York State. They had heard about the operation....and given that the one gentleman had been involved with the NY state fish and game commision (or something similar).....just had to see it. What a lovely conversation we had. TRully a treat to have some guests visit the area with some of the same interests. It is indeed a small world.

PS. It was great to see the walleye beginning to hatch. They apparently will be put into a NDRGC rearing pond at 2 sites (reared to a larger size and stocked as per MNR instructions), with another site supplemented as per MNR instructions. Things are looking up!. Great work volunteers connected with Springside Community Fish Hatchery.

The most interesting part of our conversation centred on getting fish and wildlife staff to fully understand and engage that......"we wanted to build a better system, and not take away jobs". This really hit home to me as I fully agree....most of us do in fact simply want to begin to get the whole program on track and stop floundering for various reasons.

I hope that someday, there is indeed a concerted effort to put fish and wildlife, etc. across the country on a leading edge, to excellence and believe in what they do. We have some really outstanding staff, that if ever effectively managed to even remotely close to their potential....will always be our greatest asset. I will always hope.....

Don,

Sometimes, us civilians DON'T understand the bureaucracy that runs the Govt.

It's hard to see the trees when you're in the forest.

Glad to see that you pet project is bearing fruit (walleyes) and is flourishing.

LOL.....
I liked your comment Superdad. At times it does in fact feel very odd, when one is able to gain perspective through others observations.

PS. Please give the gentleman we discussed my congratulations on his award with the Atlantic Salmon Federation. It sounds well deserved.
