The following text is from The Downrigger Digest.(CLOSA Flyer)
*We Did it!!! After 204 feedings and caring for our 20,000 baby Chinook for four weeks, they were given their freedom Saturday.Jason Borwick from MNR weighed a sampling of the fish to calculate the average weight gain while in the pens. The pens were then strapped between two boats and towed into Lake Ontario for release on rocky shoals. Everyone involved in the project is so far satisfied that things went well. Mortality in the pens was way below expectations. Hopefully our babies will be back in three or four years as teenagers to give us a good fight. If their level of activity during feeding is any indication, we certainly anticipate a good return. There are just too many who assisted in this project to thank everyone personally. We thank the MNR for their assistance and cooperation; and we especially thank club President, Al. I don't know how he kept his sanity and managed to pull it off with so many agencies involved, but he did. Thanks Al. The remainder of our annual 50,000 quota for this end of the lake arrived Friday. 15,000 were released at Wellington, with the other 15,000 going in at Stinson Block Rd.
*Next Meeting.,Wed/May 21st/at 7:30pm in the CarryingPlace church hall."
*GUEST SPEAKER-will be Jim Lawrence.Manager of Corporate Affairs & Communications of CANADIAN OUTDOOR HERITAGE ALLIANCE (COHA). Among other topics.., Jim, will speak on the "IMPACTS OF PETA!"
p.s. we, ......"ALWAYS," "welcome new members".
 HMMMM---Sum Food 4 thought.

Hey Todd, congratulations on this awesome project, and kudos to all involved. Great to hear about these community fisheries projects, with caring sportsmen getting involved, and finding a way to cut through the red tape.
We've got some great projects going on in this end with the Metro East Steelheaders raising tens of thousands of juvenile Browns, Rainbows and Chinooks for the Rouge River. A hatchery and 2 fishways later, the Rouge is on it's way back to former prominence.
Let's hope that one day they'll be the opportunity to stock juvenile BOQ walleye back into their home turf. Can't wait to do some salmon fishing off Wellington whilst staying at West Lake this summer. Are your fish clipped at all?
Great going!! Paul

Congrats on the efforts by all in the raising of salmon and their consequent release.

This effort requires both time and effort and I salute all those involved in the project.

Congratulations to CLOSA on this project. Having had a brief chat with one or two of the volunteers......it sounded like the "launch" and release went well. Thanks for posting this fishnut. Very nice!
