Quinte Fishing

Spending a week at a campground on the peninsula of West Lake starting this Sunday. Will be volunteering as an outdoor education coordinator at the Family Camp there, but also looking forward to some fishing both in West Lake and Lake Ontario. Does anyone have any updates, tips or locations regarding the fishing in West Lake this past few weeks. The head start would be appreciated. Tight lines......

West lake seems to be slowing down with some in the right place at the right time still doing well, some spots are marked with white jugs. Be carefull of the pile of rocks thats only marked with seagull knees, if you see the knees its usually too late.

I havn't been on the big lake yet because of boat trouble and wind but the guys on the radio seem to be having some luck. Bring a chart, knowing where you are will keep the canon balls from snagging up. The locals will steer you onto the hot spots as they change daily.

The salmon have been hitting pretty well at Scotch Bonnet Island about 9 mi. west of Wellington. Mixed bag of different sized fish. On Tuesday we hit 4 salmon (1 shaker, 2 8 lbs., 1 15.5 lbs) and 1 small brown trout. Plenty of other knock offs that came up dry.
