Justy got back from best Walleye weekend that I have ever experienced. The fish were hitting continuously.

This year has just been amazing in and around Deseronto and because there are not many people fishing and no tournaments it seems to have come back very quickly.

I was reading some of the previous posting and they also confirm that Deseronto is the Walleye Capital. I never thought fishing at this time of year would be so great.

Not surprised about the catches around Deseronto. It has just come back to where it was a few years ago.

These things tend to go in cycles.

You're right Fisherman,this has been the best in about 3 years for me. I use to fish big bay off of Point Anne,but now I drive the extra 15 mins. from Belleville. With all pipe line work being done down in Point Anne,they got the pipe floating right over a couple trolling lanes. <*}}}><

I think I will do another trip the weekend after next. I would like to go next weekend but my wifes cousin is getting married.

Fishing seems to be going well from all of the reports I have seem.

It's obvious that the fishing has really changed for the better.

Does anyone know why after 3 - 4 years of poor fishing it came back?

I believe that the fishing has always been good. With the changing enviroment we had to change our way of fishing. The walleye have always been there. I do have to admit the catches are up this year.

I tried to book for this weekend and place is packed. I probably wait for next weekend.

There must be some kind of event going on in Deseronto this weekend.

prolly becuase there are oinly 6 rooms for rent in all of Deseronto!

WE booked at the Bayview Inn. They have about 23 rooms a restaurant with liquor license.

We had a great time the last time and hope to get down there this weekend.

I was just joking about their only being 6 rooms.
I lived in Deseronto for a long time. I hated it as a kid. Now, I miss it's peacefulness. But luckily, i just bought one of those crazy lookin boathouses out on the penninsula across from Centennial park. Can't wait to start fishin the BoQ.

It might be a great place to fish but I would not want to live there for too long.

Deseronto is a nice quiet town with access to some of the best fishing in southern Ontario.

Seems to me that this would be a great place to visit for a couple of days or live for several years.

yes, Deseronto is a very quiet town. And the fishing is great.

Like I said, I hated living there as kid because there wasn't much to do for me, but now i miss the quietness. I just can't get that here in Ottawa.
besides the fishing there is fantastic! I went down to my boathouse last weekend and spent the night. How peaceful it was. Can any body give me tips on what lures and such work on Mohawk Bay (near forresters island) and for walleye? I'm pretty new to fishing and could use some guidance. I'm also new to boating so I'd like to keep my fishing relatively near Deseronto if i can.

You're right the whole area is great. I too lived in Ottawa for most of my life. I used to come down fishing for a week in the spring and fall. Now i live just off of Hay Bay. It really is peacefull and i woudn't trade it for anything else. Each time i go back to visit my mother in Ottawa I find the noise horrendous and i hear more sirens in one trip to Ottawa than i do in a year in Hay Bay.
By the way Spinners and worms are the trick down here. Rigged properly a dozen worms can last 2 anglers for a days fishing!!!! That is the truth, the trick is to only use 1" threaded on to the hooj followed by a plastic grub.....Larry
