the conservation area i think is only on the one side of the highway... those people must own land back there because theres about 20 cottages on mellon lake. theres no problem camping there i wouldnt think...

Melon is my favorite lake, grew up at a certain cottage. Near the end of the lake there's a few islands where folks have camped.
I've boated my personal best smallmouth on this lake too. Pickeral are hard to come by but they're there, I've never targeted Lakers but have heard from other cottagers who've caught them.

There are a couple of places to camp on the lake one is at the west end of
Big Bay, on the point (easy spot to land but watch out for the shoal that
runs up Big Bay going east) and the other one is on an island east of Big Bay across from a cottage. If you go in there please take out what
you took in, its a beautiful lake and have seen lots of garbage left by
people on those sites. You can get a boat up the creek but lauching
and going under the bridge can be a problem sometimes.
I have seen people camping on Little Mellon but not at the boat ramp
site.

hahaha It did start to sound a little dirty....... I have gone up all of little mellon, mellon creek, round is hard to fish from shore as its got alot of high spots but you could get a yak or canoe in there! Haley and Big Mellons is still a mystery to me! Thats why took the wife the long way Matt, didnt want her to see Haley and how beautiful she is!

I was just wondering if anyone has ever hiked up to Palmeteer Lake. As I have been to Mellon Lake and saw that Palmeteer was not a far distance from the farthest reach of Mellon Lake. I was hoping to go to Mellon Lake for bass opener in June and I wanted to try my luck up at Palmeteer Lake as well, so I just wanted a bit more information about it. Thanks in advance,

Ethan
