Thought I should post a report on the New Brunswick expedition to Pond's Porter Cove Resort at Ludlow.

We arr'd on Monday the 29th and it began to rain at 1800 hrs, just what the doctor ordered. There were many fish showing and it was promising for the next days fishing.

Sept 30th was our first day to fish and there were five of us fishing, Bert Delcloo (Grandfather), David Delcloo (Son ), Dave Delcloo (Grandson), Randy Giffin (Father) & Geoff Giffin (Son).

This was the 42nd year for Bert & Randy fishing together in the fall - quite a record.

There were two grilse landed, Geoff had one and Randy had one.

The number of fish jumping declined and we were seeing far fewer fish, BUT they were still there. The water had risen about 6 - 8 inches.

We fished hard on the 1st of Oct and the hard work paid off in the later part of the day. The fish were rising to the Bomber and Geoff had six fish to the fly and he finally hooked & landed a small Salmon.

This encouraged us and we had new hope, I was fortunate to be the next in the River Gods eyes and hooked and landed a lovely 34" salmon.

My son, Dave was beginning to wonder if the River Gods were going to forget him, BUT, they weren't and he hooked and landed a 29" salmon. It had been 12 years between his first in 1991 and this year. He was happy.

The trip was a success, although, my Dad didn't land a fish he had several strikes, but they didn't hook themselves.

We had a lot of laughs, some fine single malt, some good cigars and told a whole lot of stories, reminising(SP) of the past days on the Miramichi.

To have a look at some of the pictures and not to exceed the limitations of the Board, please drop by and have a look:

Have a look at the Miramich Pictures.
