Which is preferred ? , Braid or Mono ?
I'm thinking that you would want a little of the forgiveness that the Mono would offer in the chop that is usually present in the waters of BOQ

I straddle the fence so to speak. Braid main line with a 25 ft Flouro leader, mainly because of (perceived?) line visibility issues in such clear water. Works for me. :) I doubt the 'chop' issue as you mention has much validity when using one or the other line types, however I am always ready to be otherwise persuaded. :D

In summer I prefer braid with flouro carbon leader when targetting ,walleye and bass.

When fishing in the fall I prefer mono to use with my offshore planer boards because I have release clips that are only good for mono.
You can buy clips for the offshore boards which will clip to braid.

I also have the walleye board(Planer boards) from Church tackle which I can use with braid.I prefer the Offshore boards as they track better in the water .So I rarely use braid for fall fishing.

In summer I like braid when targetting pike as I don't like to use steell leaders.Often the pike will swallow the hooks deep and the braid line will fray but not break off unlike mono where the fish would be gone.

I prefer braid. I hate the memory on mono lines.

braid with floro leader. Important to use leadermaker floro.

A good rod with some give to it is important so the rod takes those head shakes and swells as you mentioned.

braid with floro leader until below freezing, then I switch to mono so it won't freeze on the reel.

braid.

can't feel what is happening with an outside board, 200' back behind the board, and a further 200' from the board to the boat.

need braid for that.

flouro lead from the braid.

my leads are shorter than most run theirs. i've not found quinte walleye to be line shy.

In fall I only troll with 12lb mono (co-polymer) as I find the bait moves more natural with a nice slow roll in the water and I loose less fish from pulling hooks out. I use to only run braids and super lines but I started to notice the crank-baits have a very snappy motion due to the no-stretch cosmetics of the line, add to that the increased number of fish lost when they could toss the hooks on heavy head shakes. So I now run co-polymer line which seems to fit the bill for big fall walleye.

I only use 10 or 12 lb mono, no floro, no braid, its just not needed. You more likely to rip a fish's mouth with braid due to the lack of stretch.Tangles with braid if you get them, forget it. Ande Pink or Cajun Red. I dont see how braid will better detect a fish on a board. I have no problems, fish hits , board goes back.

Thanks a lot guys for sharing your tricks.

But braided line is much less is diameter. So with 200 fit behind it should of have much less water resistance.
I was under impression that with 200 fit mono is not straight under water, bended up like parabola, so would it lift lure up.

It's less important if we have < 100 fit.

What do you think about it?

Its not a bad thing to have lures further away from the boat :)
