Well the boat is finally ready to go into storage for the winter.
Before putting the boat away, and packing up the rods, reels and all those cranks, I thought it would be a good plan to clean up the tackle box.
John and I headed down for a day on the water at Quinte on Saturday, and another ORWL member joined us for the day on Sunday.
For me fishing was secondary, the primary goal was to make sure that every single crank got a least twenty minutes in the water to check that it was properly tuned and was cleaned before going away for the winter.
I think I managed to achieve this without ever being sidetracked by those pesky BoQ Walleyes that seem to get in the way of achieving the annual winter cleanup.
As a distraction, I also had a bunch of minnows that needed drowning, again I was able to get that job done without being interupted.
It is such a relief to get those winter prep jobs done and without interuption.

Anyway, as always a great weekend away, good times on the water and at supper. Got to meet the G2 guys. Saw a float plane jigging for walleye and had a great final trip for the year.
Come on May 2010. Good luck to everyone who still has time on the water planed.

Hey Terry,

Great to meet you and John, we had a great time....But WHY is the boat being put away? There is still a month of AMAZING walleye fishing to go?

Cheers, Hodgey..

A month? A couple years back, the Walleyes Only crew had the boat in the water on January 10th. At that time the whole Ceement fact'ry bay was wide open, as was the Ferry and almost all the way up the Reach.

At this rate, I could be boat fishing when I get back from vacation, wouldn't that be a development?

If it don't get cold pretty soon, the "ice" boyz couldn be shet outta luck for some time to come.

Don't get me wrong, if you can't fish in the boat, there's always ice (but ice is really for drinks, and for bringing down the swelling when you walk into your trailer tongue when you're all wrecked at the Fall G2G).

4 more sleeps.

Agree 100%. However, last year there was ice in the 2nd & 3rd week of Dec.

So, ya never know.

Cheers, Hodgey...
