I was on the WFN web site and watched a video about Tru-Tungsten Tru-Life 5" Shad. This looked like a interesting new bait, so I searched it on google and the action on these baits looks incredible. I was wondeing if anyone has tried these baits and ae they worth the 20 bucks at bass pro.
Thanks John

They have amazing action that they do. They come with tungsten balls that you can add and remove for wake, slow sink and fast sink techiques. Everywhere i have looked for them they have been over 20 bucks there like in the almost 40 bucks but if they have them on sale pick a few up you wont be dissaponited at all.

My experience with these, use a good steel or titanium leader. Musky love them :P

Yes musky and pike love them walleye will eat them too from time to time. If you can get away from using a leader then dont use one my personal preference. But if you have too and are using them for pike and musky then use a good flourocarbon leader spro makes them in like 50 or 65 lb test is thick but not stiff like steel or titatium.

I throw alot of the Bass Magnetlures eye catcher soft bodied swim baits work really well. If your going to buy the tru-tungsten swim baits try throwing them on some good quailty flouro you will enjoy them.

Thanks for the replies, I will look into the 4"model. Do these fall apart like some of the reviews or is all in how you treat them. They were saying that the tail section will break off.
Thanks John

John its all how you use them and treat them for sure. Its like buying 50-100 dollar swimbaits your not going to treat them bad cause you want them to last for the amount of money you payed for them. If they do fall apart on you in like a couple of fish call tru-tungsten and explain to them that it fell apart in like two fish im sure they will give you a replacement.

I personally know a guy that has them and they dont fall apart on you i have two and lost them to pike or a muskie. A other thing you want to do with these baits just my own personally opinon is change the treble hooks to n or two sizes up, just make sure your trebles wont get hooked together while casting so you play with sizes and figure what does best. And remember when you go bigger on the trebles it may effect the action of the bait so thats why i said play with sizes i hope this helps john.

The new Kevin VanDam Elite Triple Grip hooks from Mustad look like they could work awesome for situations just like this. With their short shaft, you can upsize the hook without them fouling up as often.

Triple Grips are awesome, it's amazing much they up your odds of hooking up and landing the fish.

The only failures that I've encountered have been on big fish, 50" plus Musky. Even then they still lasted 4 or 5 fish no problem, some times longer. Well worth the money considering you can spend $10-15 (for 3  ) on soft plastic swimbaits that are one hit wonders.

regarding triple grips.

by far, the best hooks available for "lesser fighting fish".

salmon will destroy them, but the rest of the fish are ok.

i have tried to buy some #4 triple grips this week.

currently the following stores are sold out...i can't find ANY.

jb's
fishing world
bills bait
grimsby tackle

its crazy how hard they can be to find. once someone uses a triple grip hook, they'll be hooked themselves.
