Hey boys,
Many thanks to everyone who helped with the safety tips and launch ramp info. I think I'll be heading up on Saturday and launching out of Picton. I'll be trying out planar boards for the first time with an assortment of crankbaits - maybe snap weights too. The wind will only be 15kms and it sounds like I can still fish a relatively good area there without going too far. Finga, I'll be heading there from Toronto late morning some time and staying out after dark. I may or may not have a buddy with me but if you wanna meet up there, keep an eye on eachother and help eachother pull out at the ramp I'd be happy to hook up with you. I'll have sand/salt just in case. Lemme know. I'll definitely post a report when I get back. By the way guys, never fished out of Picton but I'm wondering if you tell me where some landmarks are in relation to the ramp (cement plant, Glenora ferry, Thompson's point, pump house). As mentioned before, I'm in it for my first Quinte hawg - and she'll definitely go back to swim again!

By the way guys,
Any thoughts on how cold fronts affect the fish this time o' year? I know walleye tend to be more affected than other fish like bass and pike in general but I once read that in the fall it can act as a trigger to put the feedbag on. You think there's any truth to this?

Dangnabbit, hate to disappoint you guys, it was perfect weather, but lousy fishing. Like you, we thought conditions were great. Balmy temperatures, hazy and light winds. It was beeeutiful out there. Arrived at 7am, and launched out of Conservation area. Where'd the walleyes go? Seems, we did all the right things but find the fish. Found that small lighthouse Roughrider was referring to on the north shore east of the Glenora Ferry. Trolled alongside a boat with film crew in another boat for awhile down Adolphus Reach. Marked some fish in 60 - 75 ft. of water over 80 - 100. No takers.
Came back to Cement Plant and Picton Bay, marked some bait and a few fish out in front of Conservation launch. Flatlined behind the electric for awhile. Nothing doing. Just when you think you've got those walleyes nailed......two light hits, and that was it. Trolled HJ14's, Stretch 20's, Smithwicks, all the hot colours......nothin'. Checked in with 3 or 4 other boats throughout the morning, but nothing doing. Got to try out my new inline Planer Boards though, which we thought might be the ticket with the light winds. They're pretty easy to use, just seem to be sagging in back a bit. Water temp ranged from 48 -50 deg.
What can we say.......if winds cooperate, we're back down Friday night.

Hey skunked - I am hoping to get out on Saturday as well with or without a fishing buddy. I think it's a great idea for us to keep an eye out for each other and if I am alone, you are welcomed to come in my boat. It's a 14' Springbok with a 15 Suzuki - no electronics tho. What ramp are you planninging on using?

Finga, I like what you're saying. Discussed angling with my buddy over a few beers yesterday and he bailed on Saturday fishing so I'm solo on this one. I have a portable fishdinfer, trolling motor and battery and your boat is a litle bigger than mine so if you wanna hook up, sure, we could pool our resources. Also, I'm probably picking up some in-line planar boards today or tomorrow because it sounds like these things can make a difference. Wouldn't mind launching out of Picton but I'm open. However, I really wouldn't mind trying a little night fishing. Not real late or anything but I could handle an hour or two after dark. What do you think? Where you comin' from?
