Hi all, hoping to make the trek down tomorrow for the Meet and Greet at Merlands, then do some fishing. Noticing the wind forecast is for 20km out of the Northeast. My map tells me that's right down Picton Bay. Based on the experiences of others, are conditions fishable in my 14 ft. aluminum. It's deep and wide, but just wondering aloud. Cheers,

Weedman i would be carefull with your 14 footer. A north east wind would blow down the reach and into picton bay. I personally wouldn't want anything less than a wide deep 16 footer for the area. The Weather can change quickly-just my 2 cents worth-I"ve been fishing the area for 23 years....Larry

Winds were very rough on Saturday. They started out of the north-east and then came right out of the east. Probably around 25 km/hr. As Larry said, you want to make sure you are in a good size boat. We were in a 16 ft tracker and we were pushing the limit.

Cheers,

Mike

We were in a 16.5 ft Legend with 40 fishing down in Adolphus Reach with Saturday's winds and had a few waves over the bow. A 14 ft is definitely pushing the envelope......Be safe.

Thanks for the feedback guys, had been monitoring wind conditions down there from my online weather station 'til just before lunchtime, and looks we made the right decision postponing to the long drive out for another day. Gusts up to 41km would've make for a roller coaster ride out there I'm sure. Better to be safe, and preserve the luxury of another day. Tight lines.......
