I know I probably get annoying to listen to, but for a $100 each+/- you get a guide that will put you on fish almost guaranteed. Its worth it man.

I know I say this a lot, but think about it, you are probably taking a day off work, spending $50-$100 in fuel maybe staying overnight, and meals. You are investing a decent amount of time and cash to get here. Suck it up spend the $100 for a guide and you won't regret it. These guys are on the ice everyday fishing, they know where the fish are, what they want, and will put you on them. It will make your day a lot more fun, a lot more profitable, and you will learn a few spots to use the next time you are up here.

There are a lot of very nice helpful guys on here, but when it comes to sharing their hot spot they are the biggest pricks in the world. LOL.

I agree but if you arent going to hire a guide at least take the time to read through all the abundant info on here instead of just posting help me.

Walleyeslayer79, I can't disagree with what you are saying, and lots of guys on here give up spots and lures, presentations etc. But it is one thing for me to tell you to go point anne, walk out to 15 fow, then turn left and walk till it comes up to 12' set up on the break and jig just off bottom with a MR Champ.
If you don't regularly fish Quinte finding that spot would be very difficult. The bay is huge and the fish move, a guide stays on them.

Part of the reason I recommended a guide to the friendlybutcher (love the name) is because he says he has been coming to the bay for 11 years without much luck. Not like this is his first trip. After 11 years of nothing to brag about I think a $100 for a day with a guide would be worth every hard earned nickel.

Hey Butcher, if you bring me some money and some extra money to lose in poker and some more money to stay at my house for 3 days i can see why you don't have any money for a guide. I have a new secret weapon i will unleash on the bay friday to bring the eyes in, but if you want to maybe use it it will cost you more money, you should just stay in your pj's and watch fishing on tv, or continue to beg on the forum for free info......lol see ya friday Butchy... PS bring some MONEY and some meat

11 years i mean cmon, save 9 dollars a year and hire someone that makes your trip worth it. The other alternative is when you join the site, introduce yourself get to know a few guys, make a few posts or reply to others and try to be helpful. Dont just join and make your first ever post, a tell me post. I have no problem at all with those who ask for help, as i have and i have given help as well. What I do have a problem with is those who dont contribute anything and expect is return, Just my little rant and im sure there are others who feel as i do. Ive seen alot of those this year.

Friendlybutcher, I don't intend to be offensive and the purpose of my post was not at all to force a guide down your throat. I have learned from experience that many guys are very hesitant to pay for a guide only to regret not doing it earlier. I have had many guys out on my boat that have said over and over, I should have done this years ago. Guides are fortunate enough to be able to spend many days on the water or ice and they learn from it. Yes it sucks having to pay them, and it is a lot of money, that you worked hard to earn. But they are making a living to.

Walleyeslayer, do you think one of the ice fishing guides on here should just give the GPS co-ordinates of where they are getting fish right now and what they are using? I'm not trying to be a jerk but where does a guide draw the line of what information he just gives out on the internet? I don't have an answer of where that line exists, there has to be a line.

Friendlybutcher, I am sorry to hijack your post, and I think my mistake was to recommend a guide service to someone who was asking for information, not for a recommendation of a guide. I apologize for that, and I wish I had some helpful information to share. If it was softwater, I could help you out, but in the words of a very wise and well respect quintefishing member "Screw the ice, ice is for drinks, ice is for bruises (but mostly for drinks). ..." (Mux walleyes only crew Thursday Feb 2, 2008 - Quinte fishing forum)

I was new to the bay last year, and alot of people helped me out and still do. I went out with a guide and did good, and got some advice from a guide this year and cant wait to get out again. I still get skunked more often then id like but I enjoy myself everytime im on the ice and learn something new each trip.

Butcher i have found that gold seems to be the go to color for spoons, and allways jig and shake. I have never caught anything in the bay on set lines. Get a nav. can. chart of the bay that shows every little detail. They are easy to use and pace out from shore.
