Spox and I thought we would give the walleye a day off 8O and headed out for some fast action crappie fishing. After a short search and several holes drilled we had our first slab on the ice. The action was fast and exciting with every hole holding fish. :D We each had our share of action and both landed some beauties. We thought that Chris had the "World Record" crappie on :o but after a long fight on light tackle he landed a big ole buckmouth... back in the drink he went. We only fished till afternoon and packed up with enough fillets to have a nice shore lunch on our next outing with friends.

Pics to follow.. seem to be having a hard time uploading from photo bucket.

The Crappie holes are even more sacred than walleye hot bites.

Teppy, we were in about 40' of water. Would not have caught any if it wasn't for electronics as they were all suspended. You absolutely right Super Dad... very sacred. Good luck to all. Jason

I spend a ton of time on Quinte Spring, summer fall and I figured I would catch some of them incidently. I wasn`t sure if there was good schools of them out there, I guess you answered that for me. I get good ones like that in Scugog though, but they are only in 4ft. LOL
Spox, never once did I say "half retarded" just said "smile". Its okay though, as I always say "ice fishing is a mans sport, Never look good all bundled up with snot running down our noses." Yet we are always taking pictures. :)
Good luck out there tomorrow.
Teppy

What a quality catch of crappies. I fish them often here in northern NY in the summer and occasionally through the ice. I have sometimes caught them suspended just under the ice. Where I fish the last hour before dark seems to be a key. They also rival the walleye as table fare. I also set tipups with small minnows (we can set 5) and when I get a crappie I jig that hole. Helps to locate a moving school.
