About this time every year, I make a vow to my wife to get all my fishing gear organized in the garage. I'm serious now, because she accidently broke off an eye off my Fenwick Steelhead rod a couple weeks ago. My own fault. :? I also have my boat in the garage and space is a premium.
Looking for some plans to build a wood rod rack, wall-mounted that will accomodate approx. 12 rods/reels up of varying lengths and sizes. Anyone out there who has plans or built a rack that works for them. Want it to be somewhat decorative, but not like a piece of furniture or anything.
Appreciate any assistance/advice. Cheers,

Hey Weedman, I was thinking the exact same thing for the past month. Can't imagine it being that difficult.

Rod racks are great. I have a mega rod rack, that is a one of a kind (I wish I had a digital camera to show it), with a couple of carved trout and a nice storage area. It is so neat I have it in my living room....ad it look wonderful.

Take a peek at Classic Displays (not sure if the are n the net)....a US co. that shows some nice designs. You could also take a peek at what some stores have done. Great idea for a project.....I w I was not all thumbs when it comes to making stuff....lol

Just made a rod rack for my garage; could be used on ceiling or wall.
Went to home depot and bought two 1 by 3 by 8 and cut a hole (2inch hole saw) every 6 inches;made the ends like an L and pre drilled holes for wood screws to fasten it to where you want. I have heard that they should be vertical however if they are well supported I would think they would be fine. Any thoughs? I now have 19 rods out of the way and I can just jump in the boat and pick what I need.
Weedman I live in bowmanville if you want to see it.A buddy of mine liked it so he made one for himself.

Hey Bear, greetings from this side of the border. Thanks a ton for the PDF of the plans. That rack is exactly what I was looking for. I'm gonna go pick up the supplies this weekend. Fishman, also appreciate your offer to come take a look at yours. Bear, if anyone else wants to see the plans, mind if I send along? Cheers,

Weedman,
Glad to be of service.I don`t mind if ,someone else wants them .help em out.I think that if you wanted to mount on the wall you could just "use half".
Good luck,
Bear

Hey, we can just run the 'how to' seminar at my place over some drinks. Might be a bit of a drive for Bear though. Seriously, maybe there's a spot to post the plans on the site. Dan, any ideas?

Hey Bear,
I wouldn't mind a copy of those plans also. Thanks in advance. As a side note I'm heading down to BOQ tomorrow until Saturday with a bunch of guys from our fishing club. I'll post the results on the weekend. I've noticed a fair amount of hawgs being caught. The biggest I've seen so far I believe was 15+. FYI last year (Nov. 29,30 & Dec. 1) , our group caught about 22 eyes for 8 guys, the biggest being 16+. Hope we do as well this time.
