Headed out to the fishing grounds on Saturday to fish with QuintePrince and Bayboy, we hit the ice and yes, it was cold on land, BUT with the North wind blowing down the Reach, it was REALLY cold........
We aligned ourselves and drilled the holes and settled in a for a cold morning. QuintePrince had been fishing a lot and decided to rest his bait and spent the time talking about about FISHING - what else!!!!!!
Around 0830, I had a tap on my Rapala jigging lure and sure enough, the rod bent and "Fish On!!", QP and Bayboy hurried over to my hole and QP dipped his hands into the hole and pullled out a nice fish.
As we fished the winds grew in speed and was really blowing the snow around and filling the holes with slush. I had another hit and pulled up a 12 incher, there appears to have a good crop of smaller fish, the future looks bright.
Around 1030 BayBoy yells those magic words - Fish On and we scurry over to lend a hand and aas the fish nears the hole, we catch a glimpse of the head and then the hook pulled out - Darn!!!!!!!!! Close counts in horseshoes and thermo-nuclear wars!
BayBoy toook leave and dragged his sled back to shore and left QP and I to keep fishing. We were fortunate to have a chance to use one QP's huts and with the heater warmed ourselves up for a couple hours. We watched the graph and saw fish coming by - we weren't able to entice them into taking a lure.
We left the ice at 1415 and headed to shore. It would be a good thing if the anlgers responded to the note and got permission to for parking.
It was cold day, but the day spent discussing BOQ was most informative. I learned a great deal about ice fishing using electronic, something we are lacking.
We'll be back out before the end of the season and the last day is set for fishing with QP again.
THANKS Aadill - I really enjoyed the day.
