Quinte Fishing

Just curious but, has anyone ever been able to get a copy of a map (hydrographic), at least I think that's what it's called. You know what I mean. The ones which show the contours/depths of the bottom.....thanks...WIG

I used to have a hydographic map of BOQ. They can be out of date fairly quickly, given the change in channels from year to year with sediment, etc.

Rob,

For the eastern part of BoQ, you would want the chart - Kingston to False Duck Islands.

That covers the BoQ from just west of the Telegraph Narrows right to Kingston.

The chart has the depth in metric.

I have a older version in feet at the trailer on Hay BAy.


Is there something in particular that you're looking for?

Hey David, Thanks again. I'll have to look for that one. Have a map shop in town.
I've been fishing BOQ for 12 years now but it's usually not past the C factory due to time constraints. I'd like to expand my horizons at some point and figured having a map (as well as all the tips here) would assist me greatly. It's fine for people to give you suggestions (which are tremendously appreciated) but, once you get to a suggested area, you're still lost to some degree.

I'd be curious to see if the maps would at least pinpoint areas a little better using the bottom. Thanks again for all the help...WIG

I have one that is from the Federal Government that I bought in Toronto at a Provincial Government store. The map number is 2006 and is called Upper Gap to Telegraph Narrows. It shows depths in feet and includes all of Hay Bay, Deseronto and Picton Harbour. This map is about 10 years old but you could look on the Federal web site and possibly find one. Mine is labelled Canadian Hydrographic Services Edition 51 December 1984. Hope this helps, It also makes a great picture for the wall but it is a large at 32 by 48 inches, mine is in my home office.

Thanks Dennis, I'll check that out for sure. Yes, I'm sure it's changed but I only want a rough idea anyway...It's better than no idea I figure. I'll be checking for the map Superdad mentioned too as I used to know someone who could get the maps but, trying to figure that out too. ..Thanks again..WIG

One suggestion rather than hydrographic maps is the Hot Spot Maps. Last year I picked up both maps ( There are 2 for the Bay of Quinte / East and West) . I have seen hydrographic maps of the B of Q before but these are excellent, showing contours, hidden humps weed beds etc. Of course all maps of this sort are relative to the water height at the time. As we all know the bay has years of high water and low water levels.[/b]
