Can anyone tell me if the harbour is iced over yet? We have had some very cold nights here in town. I w :? ould be travelling down from Ottawa.
If the harbour is frozen, with the warmer temperatures forcasted for this weekend and early next week would you expect it to open up again or should I just winterize the boat and call it a season?
Thanks for your help.

We are planning to head down ourselves for the afternoon today. I called Merland Park yesterday afternoon and everything was still wide open. Don't know about Picton Harbour itself, but you can always launch at McFarland Conversation area a little ways further up Hwy 33 towards the Ferry. That's where we'll likely launch. Cheers,

The weekend night temps will be cold, but the highs for next Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast as +5 and +10 with rain. That will keep the Bay open for a while.

Picton Harbour was frozen solid yesterday morning til yesterday night - the ice line was out in the vacinity of Merland's.

There are three options to launch.

McFarland's was AOK fine. There was some ice in the parking lot but the ramp was OK.

You could probably launch on the east side of the ferry, north side.

We launched at Glenora marine, where we had left our boat. Buddy tuned it up and had our 60 HP Johnson trolling slower and running faster than it's ever been since we owned it. I thought the top speed of our boat was around 26 mph - turns out it's more like 35 mph. Sheesh.
