Does any one know someone on the Quinte West council to see if they could get any input to fixing up the ramp behind the Arena ,they are missing out on alot of tourism and tourny dollars due to the ramp conditions !!!!!!
They have an awesome opportunity for an awesome location!!!!

Perhaps Trenton Kiwanis might be asked to use some "walleye" profits to improve ramps. I do have a number of close contacts on council here and will pass this message on. MWM formerly K7

Unfortunatly the answers seem simple but its just never that easy...... first you need 100.000 to cover administrative costs to preform impact studies in order to pour a dozen bags of concrete at the end of the ramps filling the holes in from illegle power loading heaven forbid you would dump a load of gravel and push it in with a backhoe the trouble seems to be if one orginization tries to do something there is 5 orginizations trying to put a stop to it.......... take a look at the wellington dredging it really makes you wonder......... last time they cleaned the channle all the sand had to be removed from the area, contract said they would remove X number of cubic yards for a set price............ when X number was met they packed up and away they went...... it filled back in in less than 6 months ........... so far with the new machine they have been there most this month of March and have gone about 100 yards. the project is suposed to be done by the end of the month. the contract is for 60,000 dollars of work this is going to last about as long as the last dredging. its just crazy if you ask me!

I think council figures that there are several launches there, like 3 or 4 on the river within a short distance from each other. So the quanity of then is better than the quality they should be in, or maintained at. If they spent all that money on ONE launch, then all the others would have to be top notch as well.

Took a senior member of Quinte West Council to the ramps on the east side and showed him the problem, although they have no water on the paved sections. He understood and was cautious as to cost and how to fix them [no surprise] but is speaking to the director of public works and we 3 will attend the areas later this week. Stay tune but take deep breaths.

AWESOME MWM
The tourism that there missing out on is unbelievable and one of the main reasons the QFSeries is not there any more is for that reason !!!
The ramp site behind the arena has everthing parking, great fishing close by lighting etc it could very well be better than Belleville!!!!
FIX IT AND THEY WILL COME
Thanks for putting forth Your time and effort
Shelly

Correct me if I am wrong, I think they just announced a big Marina going in somewhere around there, somethng like well over 200 slips and should be about a 3 million dollar project. Not sure of the details like new launches but I do agree that ALL the lanches suck in that area.

The new marina, if it happens, is to be located behind the Legion and City Hall. I did ask the powers that be to include a nice launch site with ample parking. This is probably 2 years away at least. MWM formerly K7

Just had the council person who attended the ramps with me stop into my office. He took the director of public works to the sites yesterday and he has agreed to attempt a fix before the Kiwanis event. He is now seeking approval from the Lower Trent Conservation Authority. May not be the ultimate but better than nothing I guess. I am assured a new marina will include the latest in ramps and parking. mike
